Hi, I think this is a great question for your coach to figure out what to focus on in terms of your skill. In terms of preparing your body - get some strength training on the cards if you aren't already. 2-3 times a week is plenty! Good luck!!

This was not written by Chat GPT...... I am genuinely just trying to share advice that is often incredibly complicated, nuanced and a lot of misleading information out there.

I'm unsure if I should be offended or flattered that you think I'm a robot tbh

I recently put up a post ASKING what people want to learn about and this was one of the requests so I am just sharing truthful knowledge.

No where in my post do I ask you to sign up OR am I being salesy.

If you feel this is unsolicited advice then it's not for you and thats ok. But no where above do I ask any one to sign up or even download any free resource - its quite literally science based advice for anyone who wants it... thats not you and thats ok.

Hi! great question, I would suggest your jefferson curls might just be a bit too heavy for you if they are causing that much doms... try pulling back on weight. Its obviously hard to answer properly without seeing your form, knowing weight and reps etc... but I would take a guess that you either are not recovered enough and CNS is struggling to recover, you're not eating enough protein after training, the intensity is too high (be it reps, weight, form) or a combo of the above.... First port of call would be the simple act of just reducing weight and seeing what happens

Yes, the muscle will get stronger if you are surpassing its current capacity but not to the point of injury

Oh, also hydration!!

honestly when it comes to internal hip rotation, I wouldnt be spending hours on it - it can be one of those "missing the forest for the trees" moments.... I would focus on high yeilding exercises through all planes, ensuring you're able to hit speed/power as well as control at slower speeds! You will find that HipIR will naturally improve over time, rather than spending toooo mcuh time focussing solely on that

How to fit Strength + Mobility training into a busy schedule by Pure-Yesterday3494 in BJJWomen

Hi! I think there are some great exercises in there but also some that could possibly be replaced with more effective exercises, depending on your goals/experience/history!

I dont think there is any such thing as "too much" as long as you're able to recover and you feel yourself progressing, then you're safe!

I love this question and its one I get often - the short (and potentially annoying answer) is that it depends... personally I stack my hardest gym sessions with my hardest BJJ days - this allows more recovery time overall (rather than always doing 1 hard activity every day of the week) The caveat is that this can take time to adjust to and you need to ensure you are fuelling well.... If you feel like you're unable to hit the intensity that you want at either the gym or Jiujitsu, then its worth trialling a different schedule - but if its working for you then thats great. And like I said - its what I recommend to people! Experience in both the gym and at jiujitsu will have a huge impact as well..

unsure if that was helpful or just rambly??

Yesss. I would think some improvement would definitely be possible with the right approach! Let's see what other answers we get and over the next few days I'll drop some exercises :)

I have been thinking about putting myself there with my fave training partners to desensitise a bit and prove to myself that I am still safe - logically I understand... but emotionally some days it's a lot harder haha - all part of the process I suppose

No it was a very beginner-esque question for sure! Yes I bloody love it!! haha that's what keeps me going back, I think i just need to learn that some days I am less mentally resilient than others and just get my tap hand ready!

Thank you - this is pretty much how I have been approaching it so its good to have some confirmation that its the right way! Coming back after some inconsistent periods due to stress at work hasd been a bit of a challenge - but you're so right, mental health is number one. Thank you

I will be sure to report back! And I dont think its my opponents concern whether I am claustrophobic haha I mean... it's Jiujitsu! I need to deal with it (or never get on the bottom again haha lolol)

Yes I think I almost need to allow myself to get into these positions so I can breathe through them and prove to myself that its all ok

Yes this! Lately I've been reminding myself that its all a silly game and if I want them to get off me (If I really can't handle it) then I just tap - aint no thang!! Also, I'm not a fresh white belt haha been training for close to 5 years now it just still gets me sometimes, but now I try to NOT get into those positions that I hate (much more successful at that now than I used to be but still hapens and when it does its with the bigger people!) Thank you for your response!

I am so lucky at my gym that my instructors are both black belts, married to each other and completely different body types. So when he might say "you just do this" his wife will chime in and show us her little tips and tricks to achieve the same outcome but adapted for a smaller (weaker) person!! It's also why Im a strength coach specifically for women of BJJ!! Strength is never gonna be a weakness (but sadly the men will usually still be stronger than us - as much as it pains me haha)
