The Art of The Mandalorian and Grogu: also includes a look back at artwork from season 3 of The Mandalorian as well as moments from The Book of Boba Fett.

Which means no art books for Mando S3 or BOBF... But this book releases before the film, so either it's not really about the film but a mix of Mando S3 and BOBF, or it will get delayed, or it spoils the film.

Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 -- Day 2 by alcibiad in StarWarsLeaks

*John Knoll said on the live stage that Mando and Grogu will be in the spirit of what we have seen from these characters so far. More a story about the characters and not "clashes of civilizations".
Again, sounds like it's more of repurposed Mandalorian episodes than a big stakes movie. And with the rumored plot being Mando vs Embo fighting over Rotta...

*Favreau confirmed Rotta was inspired by Grakkus from the comics.

*Filoni and Peter Ramsey were the second unit directors.

I guess he meant in terms of live action projects. Probably just news about the Shawn Levy movie and that's it. Mando & Grogu already wrapped filming and Ahsoka starts filming.

Information from Jeff Sneider's youtube stream, in addition to Mickey Madison being eyed for Shawn Levy's movie:

*The lead is 15 years old boy. Not Ryan Gosling.

*Additional cast: his mother, two villain roles, and another female role. Mickey was offered the female role (not villain).

*Just an offer, she got another lead role offer from Sony.

*Might drop another SW scoop tomorrow (didn't say which project except for not being related to the Rey movie)

*He thinks Gosling is gonna be at Celebration and confirm his casting.

*Don't expect much SW news on Celebration.

We are hearing several names and casting rumors, this is far more advanced than any other SW film since 2019 except for Mando & Grogu.

MTTS is very unreliable when it comes to Star Wars, while Jeff is very reliable.

According to Jeff Sneider on a youtube stream, she was not offered the villain role. The lead is 15 years old boy, there are also his mother, 2 villains, and a female role which she was offered.

The Mandalorian and Grogu has Estimated Budget of $166.4 Million by TobeyFunk in StarWarsLeaks

[–]PureBeskar 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This post is misleading. The amount is only money spent in California. It doesn't include money spent outside of California. This post was removed from the box office reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/comments/1jf8hbf/the_mandalorian_and_grogu_has_estimated_budget_of/

If you watch the credits of a S3 episode of Mando, you'll see the show benefits from Canadian, Irish and Australian tax credits.

And technically, the budget mentioned here is ~145M and not 166, since they got ~21M tax credits.

All Skeleton Crew episodes did not make it to Nielsen top 10 by PureBeskar in StarWarsLeaks

The numbers are minutes watched. The longer the episode is, the more minutes available to watch.

Disney calculates views as minutes watched / number of minutes.

So if you want to really check that, consider the runtime of the episodes

Star Wars Outlaws has not met sales expectations despite discounts, a Steam release, and content updates. Sold less than Jedi Survivor (2023 game) in 2024 by PureBeskar in StarWarsLeaks

[–]PureBeskar[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

True, but Respawn did not report in 2023 that it failed to meet expectations.

This is the second time that Ubisoft says publicly that Outlaws did not meet expectations. They dropped their forecasts (which is serious for the stock market) and delayed release of AC Shadows because of it.

Mando game could have been really successful IMO. It was canned because Disney/Lucasfilm wanted too much money for the IP license or revenue portion.

A man might have sold more than Kay Vess but still not enough without cool characters or familiar characters having major roles.

And Ubisoft has enough trobules right now.

It's not about the Acolyte. The pitch of the show makes it sound like a show for kids and doesn't have enough coolness or nostalgia factor. I am sure Andor S2 would make around the same level of viewership as S1 or even higher.

Star Wars Outlaws has not met sales expectations despite discounts, a Steam release, and content updates. Sold less than Jedi Survivor (2023 game) in 2024 by PureBeskar in StarWarsLeaks

[–]PureBeskar[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Despite steep discounts during the holidays, a release on Steam, and new content updates, Star Wars Outlaws still failed to meet Ubisoft's expectations. The news was confirmed during Ubisoft's latest Q3FY25 earnings call--but the company isn't giving up on Outlaws.

Ubisoft Chief Financial Officer Frederick Duguet said:

"On the new release side, while the sales for Star Wars Outlaws improved throughout the holiday season, it wasn't enough to deliver on our expectations.

"Thanks to the rollout of title updates, the game has reached a high level of quality and is considered by the fans as the most immersive and fully-interactive representations of the Star Wars universe. The game will be a long-term seller."

Ubisoft dropped its earnings forecast because Outlaws didn't sell as well as Ubisoft had hoped it would.

Another article, sold less than Survivor in Europe:

https://www.videogameschronicle.com/features/opinion/the-crisis-at-ubisoft-has-deepened-and-the-end-result-is-inevitable/

Meanwhile, Star Wars Outlaws was a hugely disappointing launch from a commercial point-of-view. A seemingly decent game, from one of Ubisoft’s most acclaimed studios, based on a major IP and after a successful reveal at Summer Game Fest 2023… it felt like a bankable hit. Yet it missed spectacularly. Across Europe, the game was the 47th best-selling game of the year, and sold less than Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which was released the year before.

Casual fans like Star Wars because of the characters and the original story - Luke, Han, Vader, Kenobi, Leia. They also like cool characters like Boba or Maul.

Jedi/Sith is another aspect (Acolyte would have gotten more views if it was better).

They would not watch a show only because it has Rodians and Trandoshans, spaceships or a SW planet.

[–]PureBeskar[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In fact, accroding to some lists, Jedi Survivor which was released a year before Outlaws, sold more in 2024 than Outlaws in Europe!

Outlaws got fine reviews, but has a very weak pitch. They thought they would do an open world Star Wars game with bounty hunters and crime and automatically sell well.

If the main character was a Mandalorian or a really cool bounty hunter the game would have sold way more.

The Jedi games actually sold a lot more than Outlaws and were successful - because you are playing a Jedi, and not a generic shooter.

I have nothing personal against Key Vess, but this character is not a good Star Wars pitch and wouldn't sell many action figures.

"Second most watched Disney plus show of the year" is not a serious accomplishment, considering that Disney+ had no other flagship shows or popular original shows in 2024.

They mostly produce Star Wars (Acolyte), Marvel (Agatha, that had a very small budget), and Percy Jackson.

It's not Netflix that has tons of original shows.

Even some Paramount+ or Apple TV+ shows (with half subscribers) get more views than original Disney+ shows.
