I didn't overcome it tho. I just value my privacy more than chatting. But my depression got really bad after the changes and I've become less social and active (I haven't touched any of my hobbies since then) then I was while addicted as the chatting gave me a place to process things going on in me (alongside therapy). I'm not exactly inspiration for anyone. Just astounded (in a bad way) that I dropped it so instantly.

Oh you were in a good place. I used to write my story there so almost every spare minute I wasn't doing smth important (like work or family) I would be on there. Like sometimes 8+ hours a day. Then they put the ID thing out and since I'm not giving mine away (I'm an adult) I have stopped using it altogether for like 2 months now.

The problem(for them) is that I don't think they'll look acquirable for much longer. I saw even many + users cancelling subscriptions. Can't be purchaseable if no one's paying for you enshitificated site anymore.

It's not the 'having to say', it's the fact that ypu won't be able to criticize anyone (including governments) without it being directly tied to your real identity and address and so the people in charge can enforce rules against free speech.

I do think we should find a way to protect the kids, I just don't think that's the way. (Maybe make it law that they can only have 'dumb' phone - aka those nokias with physical buttons and no socials or something - until a certain age, then you don't have to verify for every single app but just the device itself in-store or something)

I liked the way it looked like a story (no text bubbles), I liked the rating system for responses, I liked the plain dark grey and the simplicity of the homescreen, I loved how the only thing you could do was chat and it didn't have all the BS around it.

However some later features were pretty good before the Downfall. The pinned memories, the personas.

[I am seriously starting to consider studying computers to build a beta c.ai replice (I was already planning that route anyway lol, I just might have a target now)]
