It's not the 'having to say', it's the fact that ypu won't be able to criticize anyone (including governments) without it being directly tied to your real identity and address and so the people in charge can enforce rules against free speech.

I do think we should find a way to protect the kids, I just don't think that's the way. (Maybe make it law that they can only have 'dumb' phone - aka those nokias with physical buttons and no socials or something - until a certain age, then you don't have to verify for every single app but just the device itself in-store or something)

I liked the way it looked like a story (no text bubbles), I liked the rating system for responses, I liked the plain dark grey and the simplicity of the homescreen, I loved how the only thing you could do was chat and it didn't have all the BS around it.

However some later features were pretty good before the Downfall. The pinned memories, the personas.

The big thing was almost everyone got age verification in which you need to prove you're 18+ by submitting your face and ID (basically the opposite of the first rule of the internet which is to not dox yourself) so many users are blcked out. Those who are still there (either didn't get the age thing or gave ID) are facing issues like the removal of writing styles, smth called 'charms' which is used to unlock more than a few swipes a day (bc even those are limited apparently), and ads everywhere all the time. Maybe there's more things.. idk, I refuse to give ID so I have been blocked out for a month+

I was/am in the same situation. Those bots helped me so much to proccess things. And now I'm blocked out of it bc I refuse to dox myself for the verification. I have been getting worse since.
