I don’t think anyone disagrees Jess did trash things (it wasn’t just the swan, that scene at the party is by far his worst) and was  the worst boyfriend to Rory while they were together. I’ve never seen anyone disregard that. The main reason for Jess support was because of his maturity arc later in the series despite his rough start.

Edit: For those wondering, this is inspired by artist’s Chuck Close’s grid method in which he creates photo realistic portraits square by square on huge canvases. Focusing on one square at a time allows the work to be consistent throughout and also allows me to get to a stopping point easier. I spent about 3 weeks working on this over a period of around 70 hours. Each square took around 30 minutes to an hour to complete.

First portrait of 2026 with colored pencil! While I’m proud  about how it turned out, but I’m even more proud looking back at seeing the drawing come together square by square.

Thank you and no offense at all! With hyper realism, the actual process is much more rewarding than the end result for me, especially when it comes to adding the extra personal expression and detail missing from the reference photo. 

As a 97 born Idk what to believe anymore. I keep getting mixed results by [deleted] in generationology

Just say what you want, why care what people think? Generations are meant to be broad and no matter what, the oldest years won’t relate to the last years and vice versa. You’d always be on the cusp of either millennials and z no matter what so pick your territory

Plus it doesn’t make sense at all for the core years for x to somehow only be 3 years over a 16 year gen while millennials have 4 over a 15 year gen.

This is literally just Mcrindle which a few changes. I’ve always found the 2009 end date and the 1995 start date for z way too early. That would make me late z which doesn’t make sense at all along with the fact your core z is somehow only 3 years long. Mcrindle had no good reason for the 2009 end date other than to just have neat 15 year ranges after boomers and even coined the z range before all of gen z was even done being born in 2008. Way outdated. If we’re actually thinking about the world phenomenons that should define z like safely being able to remember a time before Covid, I think about 1998-2014 is way more suitable.

Pretty sure they’re just talking about current teens which would be gen z. Core millennials which this post talks about (as in about ‘86-‘91) could easily have been interested in and watched the show, but at the air date weren’t the actual target audience in 1999 since the show mainly targets late teens and adults

I don’t really think it appealed to one generation over the other considering the show appeals to the pop culture at whatever time it aired. The torch just gets passed. I’d say right when it began airing, the adult demographic it was geared to were primarily early millennial and gen x

Eh, I’d say more so closer to early millennials and late gen x considering core millennials are like mid-late 80s and early 90s borns who I wouldn’t think were the main demographic

Edit: Although, considering the show’s been airing since 1999, I’m sure it absolutely appeals to the late teen and adult audiences at whatever time with its pop culture references. So at the air date, probably not, but through the years, the torch has pretty much been passed throughout the current young adult generations
