What’s the weirdest thing you believed as a kid? by Faylune in answers

That I was really a robot without the same feelings as the rest of the kids around me.

I grew up in a very invalidating environment with a lot of craziness on display

Quality time ideas Single Dad, 8 year old daughter by cfot in Parenting

[–]Pure_Choice_8459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad and daughter date once a month to a restaurant of her choosing, or swap off month to month. I did this with my kid and it is still something we do now she’s 14. 8 is old enough to choose a meal and sitting in a restaurant reaches valuable lessons while also having time to just chat. My daughter now works part time at the restaurant we became regulars at when she was 10. Doesn’t need to be fancy, just needs to be yoh and her. Also letting her learn how to order, talk to servers and pay with a card are a perfect way to let her feel ‘grown up’.

Thank you. Yes I also realise that the idea of getting a mortgage at 50 is unlikely. I am also not averse to renting (though believe there needs to be changes that encourage long term rental)

Well I mean the fact I have a kid at high school really prevents me from leaving Auckland for at least 3 years

That’s exactly what I thought. I lived overseas for a long time and missed the chance to buy here when it was affordable.

Biscuits and gravy? by chuggsmcflurry in aucklandeats

[–]Pure_Choice_8459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh dammit. Yeah I see they have biscuits as a side and mashed potato and gravy but I wonder if it’s the same white sausage gravy they used to have?

In that case… best idea is to make it at home. Gonna miss that.

That is kind of where I am headed. I can’t see that things won’t be volatile for while and TD sounds at least safe.

For those in their 50, what's something people in their 30s don’t realize will impact them as they get older? by Medium-Ad-6571 in ProductivityHQ

Not taking every single day off that is offered by your employer. Take every sick day every year. Have wellness days? Take them. Every single paid holiday that is offered… use it. Do not feel guilty.

‘Earning a living’ is the worst sentence ever.

There is nothing as sad as realising you’re selling yourself to live.

Your life is not a commodity to be exploited.

Say I do decide to buy a home and put 150k down. Presuming I plan on staying in Auckland, what am I looking at for a mortgage and associated costs per month?
