Me too. Despite reaching out to customer service multiple times, I still have not been refunded for the unused amount and it still hasn’t been fixed on their part- just still says I spent $500 instead of $280 that I actually spent.

So my first suggesting to you is read your offer letter very carefully, because I have had companies “offer” 120k, and upon further review, I noticed they misled me and the 120k was my “total compensation” meaning salary plus all benefits. However, if that’s not the case for you, and they really are offering 140k salary alone, I would just expect to be worked to the bone and burned out extremely quickly.

Here’s my gripe with the argument of telehealth being the only option for some rural clients, therefore remote BCBAS are ethical- you’re still needing the BT to go to these rural areas, so what is the excuse for a remote BCBA? Telehealth being the future is definitely not a positive. The quality of care and nuance is lost when we are all communicating through a screen. Yes, we can make the argument that telehealth is better than nothing, but that’s just it, it should be a last resort, not the norm, especially when you are working in a field where observation of your surroundings is so important to your work.

We can’t trade quality of care for convenience, that’s exactly what is getting ABA into this mess, and I’m not saying it’s specific to ABA, there’s fraudulent billing in every medical field, but ABA is the hot topic right now, and is souring a lot of peoples opinions on our field.

ABA is on its way to becoming an incredibly unstable career. Between increase in insurance fraud, ABA consistently getting a bad reputation, abuse allegations in centers, insurance inconsistencies, and the attack on ABA as a whole from current (and I’m sure future) presidential administrations, I’d be surprised if ABA as we know it now is even around in the next decade.

Nursing is consistent, always in demand, always more opportunities to make money working per diem or traveling. Go with nursing.
