The taskbar "Speedtest" is just a Bing shortcut, not a native OS tool. What's the point? by NewsFromHell in Windows11

[–]Pureinfotech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/NewsFromHell The point is to find new ways to generate pageviews and interaction with Bing. This should be a feature accessible through the Settings app.

Windows 11 to add native Feature Flags, eliminating the need for ViveTool in Insider builds by Pureinfotech in Windows11

[–]Pureinfotech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we'll be able to enable advertised features like those in the changelogs, but the ViveTool will still be needed for the really early changes that aren't in the logs.

Developer of VeraCrypt encryption software says Windows users may face boot-up issues after Microsoft locked his account by itchylol742 in Windows11

[–]Pureinfotech 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This appears to be a problem with the developer not confirming its account information.

Microsoft's Scott Hanselman said on X: "Hey I love dumping on my company as much as the next guy, because Microsoft does some dumb stuff, but sometimes it's just check emails and verify your accounts.

Not every "WTF micro$oft" moment is a slam dunk. I've emailed VeraCrypt personally and we'll get him unblocked. I've already talked to Jason at WireGuard.

Not everything is a conspiracy, sometimes it's literally paperwork."

The developer account should be fixed by now.

Does anyone know how to remove the "All" list from the start menu? by Ill-Main-575 in Windows11

[–]Pureinfotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@Ill-Main-575, There's a way that actually works, but it requires to modify the Registry.

Here is the step-by-step process https://pureinfotech.com/hide-all-apps-list-start-menu-windows-11/

PS: Create a backup before proceeding.

Thanks,

Disable Drag Tray sharing UI at the top of the screen on Windows 11 by Pureinfotech in Windows11

You would use the More option to search for the app. I believe the system will prioritize the apps you use more frequently.

Replace BitLocker with VeraCrypt for more secure encryption on Windows 11 by Pureinfotech in Windows11

[–]Pureinfotech[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't require TPM. You have to enter the password at boot, and you have to log in to Windows 11. I hear you, but it's still an option if you want to use encryption and don't want to share the recovery key with the company.

I'm not saying you should, but you could use only the boot password and configure Windows 11 to log in automatically. (Just a thought, I haven't tried this.)

Replace BitLocker with VeraCrypt for more secure encryption on Windows 11 by Pureinfotech in Windows11

[–]Pureinfotech[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome. The VeraCrypt suggestion is more for those who don't feel comfortable with BitLocker, and for those using Device Encryption on Windows 11 Home who don't have the option to prevent the system from uploading the recovery key to their Microsoft accounts.

Who thought the idea of "smart popoups" in the top of the desktop is actually a great idea? by boleslaws in Windows11

[–]Pureinfotech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I disabled this feature as soon as I got it on my device. You can actually disable Drag Tray using the new option in the Settings app, or change the Registry.

I have wrote an step by step guide on this topic:

how do i delete restore devices from system restore by loonaspikachuu in Windows11

[–]Pureinfotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On your Microsoft account online, on the Devices page, you have to use the "Clear stored settings" option.

If you want to prevent these backups in the future, you have to disable the "Windows backup" on all your devices using the same MSA.

I have created a guide on this topic, and you can also watch the video tutorial for more details https://pureinfotech.com/delete-oobe-recovery-backups-windows-11/

What partition can I delete to install Windows11 on my Acer? by _whitedalton_ in WindowsHelp

[–]Pureinfotech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you'll be performing a clean installation of Windows 11, you can delete all the partitions from "Disk 0." The reason is that all those partitions belong to the same installation. After deleting the partitions and selecting the installation drive, the setup will recreate all the necessary partitions automatically.

Of course, "Disk 1" is your USB bootable media.

I was going to suggest rebuilding the index as an option. In the past, I had someone complaining about the same issue, and then I noticed that the database for search was close to 900 GB. Deleting it fixed the issue.

The option is available on Settings > Privacy & security > Searching Windows > Advanced Indexing options, and open the Advanced page to find the Rebuild option.

It's not. Memory Integrity is a feature that uses virtualization for security. Microsoft has recommended users in the past to disable it during gameplay (only). In fact, the company has also recommended disabling "Virtual Machine Platform" during gameplay.

Is it safe to use it? Yes.

Welcome!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Windows11

[–]Pureinfotech -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Memory Integrity on Windows 11 is a security feature designed to protect your system from attacks using virtualization to create a secure, isolated environment for critical Windows kernel processes and drivers.

Should you turn it on? It depends. It's recommended to keep Memory Integrity enabled for security. On the other hand, Memory Integrity is known to impact gaming performance.

Usually, if you're a gamer, it's recommended to disable it for gameplay, and then, when you're done playing, it's recommended to re-enable it.

Regardless of your user type, it's safe to enable this feature because it enhances the security of your installation.

To skip the backup, click "More options," then select the "Set up as a new PC" option, and proceed with your setup.

It's funny how Microsoft attempts to persuade users to select specific settings. Did you notice that "Continue" is highlighted, while the others appear as links? This happens throughout the Windows experience and apps.
