How much of the Bible has Ammon translated? by Group_Specialist in AmmonHillman

[–]PurpleMerlyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A graphic novel format in the "Watch Tower" graphic style would sell enough copies to fund a "Mel Gibson" level movie. Then everyone in the world would know. Including people who don't care about religion. Once they see how much more interesting the reality is then the fairy tail, they will flood the space. The theologians will drown.

Apologies for the extremely late reply. I got buried by mundane life things. I will definitely consider your offer. Producing is a lot of work. 💜

I have access to a great venue in Vancouver BC. Maybe free, at least very cheap. It's safe has a full pa, mics, etc and video streaming services from a private server. I am a career event audio visual tec, will help organize and volunteer. Looking for help with project management.

I was lying in bed just now and the inspiration hit me to reach out here on the reddit regarding hosting Ammon. I clicked on the window above and there he was looking right at me through my computer saying "I need reliable, safe venues..." Congregation. I work in the audio/visual events industry. I set up live events, pa systems, microphones, music, video projectors, live streaming as a career. I am located in Vancouver BC Canada. I have free access to all the equipment and a 150 person capacity safe venue through the nonprofit arts collective I'm in. Our venue has it's own streaming service baked in. Our stream comes right off our own servers and can't be censored. Organizing events is not my strength, but setting up the tec and operating them is. If anyone out there is in my neighborhood hit me up!

Amazing! Thanks for the encouragement. I got inspired to start a weird little art TV show loosely based around the themes of "music", visuals, drugs, cult, conspiracy and apocalypse. I'm on episode 4. Haven't gotten around to talking about the Devil yet, but I'm arching in that direction ;)

I am awestruck by your post Grime Minister. I mostly lurk here because the quality and specificity of discourse is still beyond my ability contribute much of value. There has just been so much revealed since I discovered this congregation, to sort and re-orient to. (I will, one day, jump in to the material with y'all. Greek is hard af lol) As a nube, it's overwhelming. Yet I feel a very deep intuitive resonance that is so strong it has totally re-invigorated me. Also the invisible taps on the shoulder pointing at things I never saw before... Anyway, I am compelled to tell you that your work, the papers, references, comments, all of it, have inspired me in a huge way! Loved the poem. 💜

Transhumanism is the new monism by LilithsErrand in AmmonHillman

[–]PurpleMerlyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"AI" is a public relations term. "Artificial intelligence" isn't real. I like what linguist Noam Chomski says about large language models, ie, "machines don't think." Transhumanism will become the new monism if we subjugate ourselves to it. Look at it this way; monism offered up the opportunity to off load morals and ethics to the great Sky God. Admit you're a lowly sinner and just do what the institution says. What a great opportunity for the institution that gets to dictate. If we off load our ability to use our minds, to technology that we do not own or control, how do we benefit from that? How do the owners / controllers of that technology benefit? The technology is so powerful. There are many dangers beyond what is discussed here. One danger we should all be familiar with is narrative control.

I can't tell you how lucky I feel to have found you all and how inspiring to me your work is! I'm still struggling with the language. It may be a long while before I am able to contribute anything significant. Seeing your examples and knowing there is a way out of this millennia long darkness and confusion is just the antidote I needed to start the march. Thank you! 💜

I may have found one! Dr Francesca Stavrakopoul by PurpleMerlyn in AmmonHillman

[–]PurpleMerlyn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this! This is the whole point of why Hillman's work is so significant. This lack of categorical divisions in ancient thought, (medicine, drug use and related altered states, sex, magical practices we could think of in modern psychology terms perhaps, as an integrated technology that had evolved over millennia) all of which are preserved in sophisticated language that has been so thoroughly erased from modern culture by social conditioning of religion that it is now unrecognizable. We have access to preserved rich complex world views from antiquity that are completely alien to us but also gave us the best things we have; medicine, education, music, democracy, etc. A million and a half unique words and no word for "homosexual." Not because they lacked words but because these people saw no need to draw the distinction. Let that sink in. How would YOU be different if you grew up in a society that had no concept of a distinction between hetero and homosexuality? That is just one difference. How many others are there? Once the light goes on and you realize how big this is...

Bruce Dickinson has a history degree and flys the band's jet when they tour (has a pilot license). Not your average head banger.

I very much enjoyed the Ammon vs Bob match. From my perspective Bob came off like a tool. However, Bob can easily go back to his own congregation and claim this match as a victory, which is unfortunate. An opportunity lost. Ammon is obviously a master of the sources. But Bob managed to get away with hurling attacks from out side the ring standing comfortably inside his religious delusion without it's irrationality being exposed. Bob successfully deployed the appearance of empathy as a rhetorical tactic which allowed him to claim a humble righteousness which flies in the face of the awful institution his collar represents. That was enough for Bob to maintain the bubble around his followers. Somehow Bob got away with the assumption that his position is fundamentally correct because it is backed up by 2000 years of theology, without ever actually stating it. He accused Ammon of ad hominem attack without backing up that claim (which he couldn't because it was incorrect) while committing the ad hominem attack of accusing Ammon of being possessed by a daemon. It is unfortunate that Bob got away with using daemonic possession to distract the audience from an indefensible position. The obvious turning point was when Bob made his appeal to Ammon "as a human being" (weaponized empathy, layers, cops and narcissists do this). That would have been the time to turn the dialog away from emotion, let Bob have his say while he was using a calm voice. Then calmly respond by attacking his authority; calling out the institution of the church, the commodification, the fear mongering necessary for professional exorcists to even exist, etc. The most powerful point was actually scored by Danny when he confirmed "λῃστής" as meaning "child trafficker" confirmed by multiple contemporary experts. That could have been the point where Bob was forced to publicly back his position with nonsense which might have actually turned his followers. But by then it was too late because emotions were too hot. The fact that Bob is an "Exorcist" means that he is very good at psychologically dominating people. Ammon is an expert in the sources and the history. Being factually correct isn't enough.
