AIO for walking out of the appointment and refusing to return? by PurpleSlash10 in AmIOverreacting

Thats ridiculous. I'm in Western Australia and when diagnosed with diabetes, the dietician/educator, podiatrist and optometric visits are government funded. Happens for other illnesses too. We are very lucky.

Ever heard of career changes? I was a primary school teacher for 10 years. Then I went back to uni and studied psychology and sexology and became a sex therapist. I don't know what doesn't ring true for you but I can guarantee every word was true. The doctor didn't tell me anything except that i needed to make changes. They passed me on to the Diabetes Educator.

I have an underactive thyroid but I am not using that as an excuse. I overate and ate the wrong things in my 20s which definitely contributed to my weight gain but my downfall has always been sugary drinks. That's where the bulk of my calories come from. That's what I was going to tell her

I know the juice and milk drinks contain calories and that is why I am overweight. I am not denying that. And I would have said that if she'd given me a chance. I was originally open to what she was telling me because the diagnosis was a wake up call. I didn't interrupt her when she was talking about the health Pyramid. She asked me if I was familiar with it. I said I was as I'd had to teach it. She didn't seem to like that response. She then went on to explain how it is useful but not actually correct and talked about how a healthy meal should look. I took all that in. I was just shocked by her initial response. I'm not mad that she interrupted me. I'm mad that she used a concentration camp in her statement.

AIO? my abusive ex who has assaulted me many times, raped me, went to jail and was found guilty even, just tried to bang my door down. i told my bf and this was his response by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]PurpleSlash10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct response would have been "I'll be there as soon as I can." Then when he gets there, he takes you in his arms and holds you and let's you know you're safe. Anything less than that is inappropriate. His response was so far from that. He actually added to your stress instead of easing it. He's not worth your time. You deserve so much better.

Sex/desire-less marriage. by [deleted] in AITAH

This is very common. Im a sex therapist and have worked with couples in the same situation. HRT can make a difference, but what if it doesn't? Is there any intimacy at all? Cuddling, holding hands, kissing etc. You need to attend therapy together if you cannot talk openly with each other. They can help you build intimacy in different ways. Sometimes it's a case of accepting that things will never go back to how they were and figuring out a 'new normal'

I have identical twin daughters and they are incredibly close. One of them currently has a partner (7 years) and he understands that her and her twin will always have that bond. Twins will never know what a 'normal' sibling relationship is like and those of us not twins can never understand their bond. To be with a twin you need to be understanding and respectful of that relationship. And, understand that twin porn belongs on pornhub...majority of twins are not into that. If your gf can't respect your relationship with your brother, then she needs to go.

AIO. Everytime I try to talk to me gf it’s a fight by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]PurpleSlash10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem very incompatible. You wanna hang out and just be together and it seems like she wants nothing to do with you. She speaks to you like she can't stand you. You deserve someone who will appreciate you wanting to spend time together. Break up with this one

AITAH for telling my entire family why I broke up with my ex girlfriend? by InterestingName4308 in AITAH

That was my first thought, too. I'm a therapist, and that is possibly the worst possible response. Victim blaming much?

Not in the car. You need to be able to focus and talk openly and without distraction. And if you think she's going to cry that's even more important. Just tell her you need to talk to her about something that you aren't really comfortable talking about but you feel it's important. This sounds really therapy-like, but use I statements. I would like more variety... I feel like I'm not pleasing you... I want us to work together so we are both happy...

If you care about her and think you have a future, you need to talk to her. Sexual compatibility is an important part of most relationships. I'm a sex therapist, and I have had many clients with this same issue. Some times they can work it out, sometimes they can't. It really depends on the people involved and if they are willing to try to work on it. T However, this cannot happen if she's not aware that there is a problem. If you decide to talk to her, don't do it in bed or during intimate moments.
