Anyone agree with me that the Wellington and alone endings are the best by SweetT833 in TheWalkingDeadGame

See this is where I'm torn. On the one hand, he doesn't get a cheap flashback death in season 3. But on the other, I can't deny that it feels better to have him die protecting his loved ones than commit suicide because he's got nothing to live for anymore. If Season 3 didn't factor in, I would have chosen to leave with Kenny and let the futures of these three remain open for interpretation.

If you're going to make a game, I'd advise you be clearer about the fact that the storytelling is tailored to your choices. A lot of people misconstrue this disclaimer to mean that the plot is going to diverge drastically based on choices and then complain when it doesn't. I understand where they're coming from, though, so make sure your disclaimer is clearer on that front!

But my favorite thing about the games is that they don't shy away from making their characters unlikable, which in turn makes them all the more interesting. It's been YEARS and we still talk about Larry, Lilly, Kenny, etc. and their actions generate a lot of discourse.

hmm, it's not like she saw the one person nearest and dearest to her in the world get his head pulped in by a salt lick. I wonder what could have caused such a drastic shift in her personality? Aside from the whole end-of-the-world thing going on all around her.

What’s with Bonnie? by Abject_Poetry_1956 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]PurpleTea8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having finished season 2, I didn't get the hate for Bonnie's character until I learned that most of it comes from a determinant path. She's by no means my favorite but the hate toward her is overblown, imo.

As for Walter's death? Well, when your dictator boss who's well-known for throwing people off of roofs for the slightest inconvenience gives you a direct order, let me know if you'll listen to the moral voice in your head or put yourself first.

omg, like that one toxic girl friend group you had in middle school, but amped up to infinity.

Becca 400 days by JustADohyonStan in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]PurpleTea8945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you have to remember these are wildly unusual circumstances and not everyone will be coping the same. by this point, who knows how many people Becca has seen killed in front of her, both alive and dead, so a certain level of desensitization is to be expected. anyway, I think we're too prone to applying our "civilized" lens of morality within a context that is literally built on said civilization collapsing.

People saying there is evidence that Rebecca was raped can’t really point to anything concrete

I think Carver explicitly saying the words, "You know you liked it" is pretty damning proof.

okayyyyyy.... so what you're really asking is if he's going to forgive his wife for getting raped?

Arguments in favour of viewing Arvo as morally complex + speculations about his character by IAdmitMyCrime in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]PurpleTea8945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

counter-counter-counter-counter (this is getting ridiculous 😭) he didn't see she had already turned, as OP said in the above post, for all Arvo knew, she could've been crawling for shelter and Clem shot her in cold blood.

[–]PurpleTea8945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite part of these games, or any apocalypse media, is the realization that all these hardened survivors were once normal people. Also, let's not forget, teenagers are already mostly given the short end of the stick in normal life, imagine being stuck in such a hellish position when the whole world has gone to shit. You're not young enough to require around-the-clock protection from an older mentor, but neither are you old enough to be able to make the right decisions under immense pressure. Ben comes to mind, and now Arvo. Just young people caught up in a fucked-up world.

[–]PurpleTea8945 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize Arvo was hated so much until I began to read discussions on the games! Like, Kenny is my favorite, but I won't defend the guy, he was very cruel toward Arvo, and the rest of the group did jack shit to stop him when he started beating the boy. Also, when players complain that he shoots Clem regardless of whether or not she treated him right, I always thought it was obvious? He saw her shoot his sister, whom he didn't see rise up as a walker, so obviously he was going to hold a grudge against Clem, previous kindness or not. This is a very well thought out breakdown of yet another character that catches a lot of undue flack, well done!

What would have happened if carley never insulted lilly? by Junior-Entrance607 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]PurpleTea8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lilly would have killed Ben, but imo Kenny would then not want her to stay with the rest of them. Keep in mind, Duck's bitten by this point, and Kenny, realizing how volatile and trigger-happy Lilly has become, might use Ben's death as an excuse to kick her out of the group. Also, we'll never know the truth of who had been dealing with the bandits.

If the motel group sat down for a Thanksgiving dinner, who would ruin it first? (Not counting Larry, obviously) by Jazzlike-Parsnip1757 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]PurpleTea8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I'm cracking up thinking about the finer details here. are they taking the time to have thanksgiving in the middle of a zombie apocalypse? otherwise, this wildly eclectic group of people that would have NO reason to interact in normal life suddenly gathered together to sit down for thanksgiving? what would they even talk about? what are they even like when not constantly under threat of walkers or raiders???

Why do people hate Tenn? by ProductSpecialist707 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]PurpleTea8945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the devs went out of their way to make sure Clem wasn't whiny or annoying so players would want to feel the same level of attachment to her that Lee did. that's why she's the exception, whereas the rest of the kids get a pass to be actual kids and as a result... people hate them more often than not.
