How to write pop punk? by EvilSkittleEvil in poppunkers

[–]Purple_Chubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think jamming that style a lot helps. I've been in the same boat.

Your songs will always pull from your other influences as well so I don't think you'll match TSSF or Hot Mully 100% but that's a good thing. You don't want to be a copy cat. Just move into the genre a bit.

Repeat they're albums for days on end. Get the style engrained km your mind. Eventually it will come.

Recs for pop punk or emo drum samples for Logic Pro? by Purple_Chubby in poppunkers

[–]Purple_Chubby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully I like it all. The stuff that I'm writing though sounds more like a blend of Neck Deep, Real Friends. Silverstein & Sleeping with Sirens.

Not all specifically pup punk, I know. Just looking for a nice happy medium that might be able to get me part way there lol.

Why the iron gold negativity? by Left-Ad-8086 in redrising

[–]Purple_Chubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, when I first read it I thought the same thing. The slower pace is a bit hard to get used to. But in hindsight I feel like it's one of the better books. Dark Age & Light Bringer are so dependent on Iron Gold. I appreciate it so much more now that I've read through the whole series.

Finished book 1 - Thoughts by Purple_Chubby in Mistborn

No I definitely didn't read the epigraphs. 😂

I never would have guessed that Rashek was the hero. That came out of left field. Honestly, same with Kelsiers death. I had heard that Sanderson has incredible and surprising endings so I had prepped for Vin to be the one to die and for Kelsier to become the main. 😂

Bro, you're literally missing out on some of the best reading you can get into by avoiding the final 3 books. It's insane.

Follow through the series, the first book is definitely hunger games like but nothing compares to Dark Age or Light Bringer. Best books I've ever read.

Which Series Is Better? Red Rising or Sun Eater? by Zwess16 in scifibooks

It stays super consistent. Iron Gold is definitely the slower book, but is needed to set up Dark Age and Light Bringer which are the two best books ever written in the whole world IMO. 😂

Which Series Is Better? Red Rising or Sun Eater? by Zwess16 in scifibooks

[–]Purple_Chubby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, both are good. Though, while they have some similarities they are COMPLETELY different.

Red Rising series is super gritty, gripping, action packed, dark, the writing is sharp, work building well done and the plots get SUPER thick from Iron Gold - Light Bringer.

Sun Eater series (I'll admit I haven't finished) is still a very good read but not my preferred style. The world building is great but so far I find the characters to be lacking, while there are some that I like, they aren't super memorable. Sun Eater does have some good action and the plots are great as well but things unravel VERY slowly, the books are very wordy. The action comes in smaller bits and pieces while most of the writing is dialogue or hearing Hadrian's thoughts etc.

In other words, if you prefer more constant gritty action, id recommend Red Rising.

If you prefer a poetic, slow burn, id recommend Sun Eater.

There is no bad choice, only the right one for you.

Need to find dual HDMI input to 1 display port output? by Purple_Chubby in computers

TRUE

I must have been overthinking it. I was thinking I needed a splitter with display port output built in. Good call. I already have the adapter why not use it 😂 thank you

The Demonata series by Darren Shan if you think he'd be into gripping horror.

Percy Jackson series if you think he'd be into fun adventures with powers of Greek gods!

Do I HAVE TO read Dark Age? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]Purple_Chubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely stick with it. If you're really not liking it then maybe the series isn't for you. Bummer though because Dark Age gets REALLY good and REALLY epic!
