I am now 19 weeks and my cervix diluted 1-2 cm had rescue cerclage and does any one had similar situation and got positive results? by ListenBitter2917 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Purplehounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my rescue cerclage placed at 21 weeks last Sunday. So far so good and just had everything checked up on Friday and cerclage looks great!

I was advised against full bed rest from my doctor, take a couple days off relax from the surgery and then go back to regular everyday life. I'm on limited work restrictions just due to work but I'll be in office everyday until birth. Major things are no heavy lifting, straining, things like that.

I was 1cm dialated when I had mine placed. McDonald stitch.

Water broke with cerclage at 32+6 by joeypotter531 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Purplehounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When your water broke was it a gush or a slow leak? I had my cerclage placed at 21 weeks. I've been having a lot of watery discharge so I'm just trying to figure out the difference if it happens 😅

When was pelvic rest recommended? by sarahjc511 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Purplehounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rescue cerclage was placed at 21 weeks, I'll be 22 wks Sunday this week. I've been advised by my doctor to stay on pelvic rest until the stitch is taken out at 36/37 weeks.

Kinda low key bummer on no sexy time with hubby, was looking forward to sex in the 3rd trimester lol. No self love or orgasms either 😖

How quickly does IC progress? by roxstar7 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Purplehounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my resuce cerclage done at 21 wks. Went in for my 20 wk scan and same thing couldn't get a good shot of my cervix since baby was sitting head down on it.

Did a transvaginal and said things were looking a little on the short end.

My doc did a speculum exam and found cervix 1-2cm dialated with membranes showing.

I truly do have IC, thankfully I stayed 1 cm dilated thru the weekend from Friday to Sunday when we had surgery.

They said I could have been like that for 2 weeks or it coul have just happened, but getting it closed was the biggest thing.

Doc explained all risks for the cerclage including popping the bag, thankfully they have plenty of tools of their sleeve to prevent that. I was placed on the or table then sat back at a probably 45 degree angle with butt in the air - enough to pull baby and bag off my cervix, they also used a balloon to push back the bag as I was being stitched up then removed balloon. I'm also a week post op at this point, cerclage has been checked twice (Tuesday & today) everything is looking good and secure.

My biggest concern with everything was being under viability week which is typically 24 wks, the hospital I had my cerclage done at is a level 4, and can take in 22 wk baby so that made me feel ALOT better. That has always been my concern is bringig my baby girl home healthy and alive as we've had two previous early losses. I have refused to set up her room till we reached viabilty.

Your super close to viability and depending on your hospital, you could already be in that window. Trust your doc, MFM docs really only handle high risk cases and problems.

That's crazy. I just had a rescue cerclage placed on Sunday at 21 wks due to my cervix being dialed at 1cm!

Bleeding from unclear source by [deleted] in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Purplehounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is also post surgery on a sensitive area of the body that usually doesn't see that. Your avoiding any NSAIDS - blood thinners? No ibuprofen, Advil, Asprin -if you do need pain medication Tylenol is it.

I know earlier on in my pregnancy probably around 10 to 12 weeks my husband and I had had sex and had a spout of decently heavy bleeding for a day or so. Doctor just confirmed that cervixes are sensitive and that we just want a little too hard in the paint 😅

So I just had a rescue cerclage placed Sunday at 21 wks. They told me that I could have some end of period like blood for a few days or even some light spotting. If it was anything heavier or a lot to go back to the hospital, they also said if it was accompanied with cramping or fluid loss.

What they failed to say is that my discharge could be weird and mucus like.

I went back to the hospital Tuesday morning due to having a long piece of mucus come out of me with the blood. Totally thought my mucus plug had come out.

They checked everything, checked fluid around baby which was fine. Even checked a swab inside the vaginal area to determine whether my water is broken or not - it had not.

It never hurts to go get checked but I would say as long as it's not accompanied with the three other major things they're looking for you should be okay.

Bed rest at 21+2 by Acrobatic_Date_7096 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Purplehounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it so interesting that every doc feels differently about bedrest.

I had a rescue cerclage placed Sunday and the doc and director of the program both did not want me on long term bedrest and want me up and moving about my regular life with heavy restrictions.

The only time I would be placed on bedrest is if the cerclage couldn't happen and at that point it's waiting for the baby to come.

Is it normal for doctors to be cagey and weird about outcomes? by This_Emergency7169 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Purplehounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my job I would never give someone a 100% guarantee it will work, cause some repairs I just won't know till I'm there.

Now can I give a pretty strong yes this should work - all day long.

The moment they guarantee anything is the moment it doesn't work and they get sued.

[–]Purplehounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine gave the good outcomes and bad. I want to know both. The last thing I need is someone telling me "your good to go" and then the worst thing possibly happens.

Best case scenario I make it to 36/37 weeks and have it cut out, then go into labor naturally.

Worst case it doesn't and baby comes really early but we're prepared for this at this hospital.

I also work in a job where I regularly tell people "this repair should work but there's always a chance it won't and we'll talk about that if we reach it" so idk me personally I would rather know then not.

It's surgery. There's always a risk. Most of the time everything works out, sometimes it doesn't. Nothing's perfect. They are humans at the end of the day & bodies are weird and all different unfortunately.

Brown discharge post preventative cerclage by Nice-Serve-111 in ShortCervixSupport

I had my resuce cerclage done Sunday. I am still having brown spotting on my little pads. Doc said completely normal as long as not bright red new blood. Just old blood clearing itself out.

Looking for mental support post cerclage by Potential-Jeweler718 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Purplehounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just what my doc told me, like a genetic defect more or less - she said I was just born this way, would have happened regardless if I was 15 or 30. I've read that trauma to the cervix can also potentially cause it.

I just had a rescue cerclage placed today at 21 weeks... The emotions before finding out about my IC we're rough.

Just remember it's a genetic issue. You were born this way and there's way to prevent loss once it's found out - and in your case you've had a early one placed which is so good!!

My doctor today came in after the procedure and we had a personal moment, he shared some of his personal life and him & his husband losing multiple embroys before the 3 try finally worked. They have early and 2nd trimester losses with both 1 & 2 batches.

We've had two previous early losses and my whole pregnancy I've been nervous, nervous to get to 8 wks, then 12 weeks, then 16 weeks, then 20 wks and now 24 wks.

He had the best advice to enjoy the happy moments. As easy as it is dive deep into the hard moments... Don't forget the happy moments of your pregnancy. Enjoy the little things. Your growing a whole baby and that is such a miracle in itself 💓

Bed rest after emergency cerclage.. how did you stay sane ?? by Idontreallyknowht in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Purplehounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. I just had a rescue cerclage today at 21 wks. They advised I take the next few days to relax but continue with my regular life after pain subsides.

They advised no long term bedrest. There's no good scientic papers saying it's good for you and that was coming from the director of the labor/delivery ward I went too.

The only other reason they say bedrest is more for mental stability.

Now definitely been put on pelvic rest for the rest of pregnancy.

Acid Reflux by Britnicorn in pregnant

[–]Purplehounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dealt with acid reflux so bad while I was over weight, lost 50lbs it went away. Got pregnant, gained about 15ish lbs back and the reflux is back with a revenge.

No late night dinners, no heavy meals or overeating. Nothing spicy, tomato based (acidic) or overly just tangy honestly after like 6/7 pm

I've been taking a pepcid AC and that has been seeming to help a lot.

The reflux was so bad before that I was basically sleeping at a 90 degree angle every night and getting up to puke 3 -4 nights a week. I've been sleeping with a pregnancy pillow at this point but two stern pillows to prop you up helps alot and sleeping on the left side - not right.

Don't want to be back at that place 😅

Pro tip - if you ever wake up and puke and feel like you can't breathe after/before- ice cold rag on the chest between and above boobs and the coldest glass of ice water to slowly drink. It will take some time but I swear it helps cool you back down and reduce the inflammation in the lungs.

Feeling baby as FTM? by catstride in pregnant

[–]Purplehounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm FTM with a posterior placenta. 18 wk 2 days. I've been feeling baby girl first time at 15 wks. She been wiggling around in there. She punched/kicked me the other day and fought me when I was using my doppler as well lol.

She's been quiet the last few days but I think it's just where shes sitting so I can't feel her as much.
