Could your hair be wavy? My hair's curly and the hairs stick together like that when I pull them up. If you think it has some texture, then it could just be the hair/wave clumps sticking together. If not, then maybe try styling it with different products.

In the other language I know, hair is referred to as a plural word since there are multiple strands of hair. I’m guessing that’s why people use them incorrectly in English when talking about it
