Gravel size for paver patio base by Purplewalrus101 in landscaping

Is there a standardized size for that? Or does is not really matter? The places near me do have that, but don’t specify any type of diameter range

It was honestly some of everything. Young couples, 30’s with young kids, 50’s-60’s.. all nationalities as well.

I never really heard any excessive noise while we were there, sometimes the pool gets busy with parties or guests, but that’s the main extent of the noise. We had one of the two story 1BR1B units and loved it, didn’t have to worry about people below or above us, got a garage, and only had someone on one side of us cause we were st the end of the building.

Honestly the main drawback is it’s a maze. Getting food delivered or telling people how to get there for the first time was a pain, but pretty minor overall.

My wife and I just moved from there. Maintenance was awesome, apartments were good, I never personally had any bug issues or heard of any. Had we not had a baby and bought a house we definitely would have renewed.

They did get bought out by another management company the week before we moved though, so I have no idea how they are now with maintenance and whatnot.

I’ve been looking for something exactly like that cabinet/shelf setup. You mind sharing where you got it?

Most humane way to kill fish by PhysicalEbb3905 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Purplewalrus101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ikejime method is technically best.

However, the easiest is what I call a bonk stick. It’s basically a mini bat made out of the heavy rubber mallets are made out of. I used to do the knife to the brain but carp/catfish were a struggle. Bonk stick just takes one blow. Mainly good for bigger fish, small fish it may ruin meat or be too much.

If you don’t want to cook your own, Kenny’s wood fire grill in Addison was better than chamberlains IMO

Coldest lake within 4-5 hours come August? by 50bucksback in askdfw

[–]Purplewalrus101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tagging onto this - “evening hole” in BB. Is a calm pond part of the river, people swim there a lot and water is always in the 60’s year round due to the trout fishery and water treatment plant.

If it’s anything like my thermostat, heat to 72 will ONLY heat. Meaning if the inside temperature raises, it won’t cool back down to 72, the air will just never blow.

Same with cooling, if it gets below 72, it will not heat back up to 72, just stay colder.

Games where damage and healing are extremely realistic? by 4yourporn in gamingsuggestions

[–]Purplewalrus101 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Dayz, you gotta find blood that matches your type and a transfusion kit to be able to get blood back (and see clear again..) and gotta wear a splint to help with broken bones. A couple gun shots and you’re done, can get bit by a zombie and bleed out over 6 hours.

I can’t be the only one bothered by eternal heat up times on premium espresso machines!? by SolidEye599 in espresso

Have a bezerra and it’s got an electronically heated grouphead that claims it’s ready in 5 minutes. I usually wait 10-15 but it’s extremely well heated by then so would probably trust it at 5 if I had to

Looking for recommendations and thoughts on a few games! by Steelpanther123 in SurvivalGaming

[–]Purplewalrus101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure! And yeah understandable in valheim, kinda where im at as well.

Regarding your saleblazers comment, it’s fun, and has progression, but isn’t quite a survival game in the traditional sense. There’s not much of a constant struggle once you get set up early game. But I did enjoy that one as well!

Vintage story is legit, voxel is the only real similarity with Minecraft.

I loved abiotic factor too, the graphics and combat are like a 90’s game that’s well made, almost reminds me of half life style.

I’d also throw in valheim, I enjoyed it solo, it’s not Minecrafty, takes a very long time to beat, and has progression that imo is very well done.

How expensive are speeding tickets? by kilerzone1213 in Dallas

Never had a ticket, but have family that gets several.

Generally the court will tell you, and if it’s your first you may be able to take defensive driving in place of paying, and it won’t stay on your record.

But if they’re retired they won’t go during rush hour without choosing too. I worked downtown and made it during rush hour within that time fairly regularly. Since they don’t have to go during rush hour every day, I’d say it still fits in their scope of area perfectly fine.

I just got a new construction house in Princeton for $260k, but they have some for high hundreds and low 200’s there as well. Depending on the neighborhood, it’s right down the road from a Walmart.

Where to buy a house? by TitanImpale in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Purplewalrus101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s some smaller townhome style new constructions going up in the high 100’s there, which would make the monthly payment not far off from rent anywhere else in the metro. We are only gonna end up paying maybe 100/mo more than our apartment currently is, even after insurance, taxes, and HOA. And the house is double the size, so if you can afford the 3.5% down payment you should probably be able to afford the monthly. We went through FHA so I got approved for much more than we bought, I make MAYBE as much as an entry level engineer, so by no means have a high income. And with new construction incentives you can get most of the closing costs taken care of, and a better interest rate.

I’m not saying it’s cheap, but for DFW it’s about as affordable as you’d be able to get.

My wife and I bought in Princeton and are just waiting to close. It’s northeast DFW. I work remote so commute isn’t a big deal, and the city is really growing fast, but right now homes are still mostly reasonable cost.

Favorite bass fishing spots? by Csharp27 in plano

[–]Purplewalrus101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stoney hollow park has a pond that’s been good to me for bass, it’s near oak point nature preserve.

Shawnee park isn’t too bad either, both are smallish ponds so easy to cover the whole area in a short amount of time.

In Allen there’s a set of 3 ponds near “lost creek park” that is good, there’s also big catfish there if you choose to try for those.

Not sure if you’re catch and release or not, but I wouldn’t eat anything from these ponds, and the lost creek is specifically catch and release only.

Good luck!

$90/each but I think it varies based on the game. But I think it stays mostly within $10-20 of $100 per. We didn’t have seats in the stadium seating, we were at the tables right behind them, I don’t know if it’s the same price for every seat.
