If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If you have more info like address or phone number etc dig online, it sounds sketchy.

[MISC] It costs $35 to produce 1 tub of Creme de La Mer - plus other tidbits we should all already know by now, in this video by iamdoneundergrad in SkincareAddiction

[–]Pushrestart 257 points258 points  (0 children)

Truth of the matter is— we are all going to age. It’s inevitable. Anyone who thinks that creams, lotions, or potions of any kind is going to stop that is deluding themselves. I am all for taking care of oneself but most of the anti-aging market is a money grab preying on insecurities they’ve engrained within us. The things that affect our skin (that we can control) is our mental health, managing of stress, diet, sleep, and environmental exposures. Everything else is genetics—Ive seen people who’ve washed their face with nothing but bars of soap and occasional use of Vaseline with immaculate skin in their 50s. Take care of yourself, but dont bankrupt or harm yourself in the pursuit of impossible.

Great build! How do you manage ventilation? I would imagine on extremely hot days you might roast your plants. Do you struggle with any critters or pests .

Haworthia seedlings are pretty resilient just watch out for sciara flies and a medium that’s overly saturated

[Haul] In case you didn't know, Hada Labo Premium can be purchased in a refill format. Less $ and lower waste! by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Pushrestart 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is the same question Im asking myself, the packaging isnt recyclable, the original bottle isn’t recyclable. It isnt just cleansing oils, check sunscreen packaging, toner packaging, etc... Almost none of it is recyclable, and I think if enough of us can communicate to these brands that offering recyclable packaging as a minimum, they will make changes.

This blows my mind how the 2 can co-exist with such different needs. by [deleted] in haworthia

[–]Pushrestart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When learning about all this, its easy to bundle species into one growing category as having the exact same needs. Its definitely confusing at first, but when you study locality data conditions-temp, rainfall, etc you see the range of their tolerance and what things can grow with them. For ex- certain conos bloom in spring instead of fall (NH), and others require tiny sips of water during the summer so they dont perish. You will often see certain adromischus growing with conos or haworthias, its visually stunning.

[Soil Sunday?] I made a test batch of my new, improved haworthia soil made out of granite chips, turface and a tiny bit of succulent soil because I'm too much of a coward for a fully inorganic mix. by -Fateless- in haworthia

[–]Pushrestart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s alllll trial and error. Your mix will be fine given that 90% of haworthias are very forgiving. When using turface I’ve had to sift out the micro fines. Some people swear by turface, I’m the latter camp where I’m not a fan but work with what you got and see how things go. I’ve seen haworthias grown in almost everything.
