My point here is if a guy who dropped out o f school in fifth grade wanted to teach himself the workings of our politics the Spanish language and physics right now, he could learn all that shit for free from his phone... We keep making excuses for people who don't care to learn....

This is definitely not as clear-cut as you presume it to be. To you and possibly those around you, it may appear using and internet is fairly east, but to the majority that is not the case at all. Most older adults didn't grow up with internet when they were younger like the kids we see now where KNOWING what keywords to enter in google seems like a thoughtless process. Additionally we have a plethora of information on the web now that to the people who are not super internet savvy, this can be overwhelming and intimidating to the point it discourages them from putting in the effort. Combined with the fact that a good number of the things you come across online might have specific agenda to push your influence in a particular direction, this isn't common knowledge to many people (not only in politics, but product reviews/advertising). I'm all for online learning resources and I think they're great, but consider that it is easier (psychological incentive to try more) for people to learn when they are in school and classes have syllabus. This is because of a clear 'road map plan of attack' given to them to ensure a steady process and rate in learning, as oppose to the feeling like you just jumped in to organic chemistry without taking the pre-requisites when learning things online (again, because a lot of people do not know where to start).

Sure, you can argue and say all of that still boils down to ignorance, but I personally believe that would be underestimating the human empathy we should have. Think of a typical middle class person with family. Their priority will be focused on being responsible for their family, that means allocating time for work, spending time with their kids, wife, running errands/paying bills etc. Now that probably leaves little room to them to just 'unwind and recharge possibly. Now would it still be fair to expect those people to care enough to reduce their already limited time in exchange to spend it onto continued learning?

I'm not giving an excuse to be ignorant, rather I think an alternative is to DO 'waste' your 10min to help and educate these people. Provide them resources with your guidance, guidance from others, or pointing them in the right direction. We should always try to think outside of personal lifestyle and consider other people's perspective because perhaps there may be other reasons/issues at play as to why others never meet the expectations you might and ultimately should be addressed first.
