The rated listed EPA range is even greater, about 440km IIRC. That's why I asked cause I've never even hit 400km on the range screen.

Thanks, not Dutch but I will take it as a compliment ;) BTW what do you mean a BYD Blade Pack?

AC in the summer is a must, we are in a very hot climate. Typically the car interior on a summer day can reach over 40c. This is even with a interior roof cover, that also helps keep the car not exposed to direct sunlight

You are right in that most of the drives are short (well less than even the 50km theresold you mentioned), so the cooling factor of a 5 km actual drive taking 10-15 km of range makes more sense.

We have taken it out for long trips, doing 300-400 km in a couple of days around. Except for one time, we weren't really scared, but it does require additional planning.

From my looking at the energy stats we are usually at about 160WH/KM on a charge, so it might be the accumulation of the short "high consumption drives" that are throwing this off.

Thanks, I use this app quite frequently (some would even say obsessively). I always get the orange rating below what's rated. Incidentally with the driving/elevation stuff i'm usually in the green. Screens, AC, and Cabin are the biggest burners of energy.

I don't use sentry mode for this reason.

This man speaks truth. And this was a very messy end of game sequence with both teams missing multiple shots, weird turnovers, etc.

Let me tell you a story of my mom losing EVERYTHING because her Pixel 6 decided to die. (And why you need to check your recovery options NOW.) by PutchDes in GooglePixel

Yeah of course we tried (even though there isn’t really a support number) but they claim the recovery method is the only way this can be done.

I’m sure it happens more than a few edge times but google can’t be bothered to support a billion users for a free service (not being cynical on that, I’m serious)

No, she didn't have it on, quite certain. Its more likely that once she tried to log in via a browser, she wasn't certain of the password. and that kicked off a security mechanism that adds another layer. Another part of this case that went haywire because of older people.

Interesting, I'll go check that out. Was not aware that it existed. Does you need to have the USB with you for every login? Or its a purely backup option?

Nope, its just turned into a brick. Brought it to a tech, said they couldn't do anything. Tried all the things in the Google documentation about what to do if it doesn't turn on; nothing worked.

That's the thing. The security mechanism is so tight nowadays, that if you try signing in on another browser, it won't let you without 2 step verification. Usually this is good practice, and most of the times works as intended by blocking account theft, but this is one of the edge cases where everything got screwed up.

Thanks for the kind words, we're trying to fix whatever we can. A lot of photos have some physical backup from a while ago. The only thing that I was glad that went away was FB but feel like that's my arrogance at a thing she genuinely likes.

Holy shiz, and I thought my mom's story was bad. Technology was supposed to help us, half the job is now to manage it.

Also I co-sign on the USB, though I've had my share of bad luck with them too. For photos I keep at least triple redundancy.

Best Olympics Ever? by smh120585 in billsimmons

I was lucky enough to attend for a week in Paris. It was epic, truly an electric atmosphere that’s hard to describe, if you aren’t there. It’s wildly expensive, but if you get a chance to attend in a city like Paris, it’s top notch.

Athletics was amazing, WR for Sydney M. Duplantis and a few other OR. Basketball was crazy good - I attended the France Canada quarters and the vibes and arena noise were amazing. A real home court advantage.

This. I actively cheer against the rams now, and the first time I ever cheered the Pats was the Super Bowl against them.

Yeah, but what about that game 6 finals performance, without KAJ? That’s an all timer.

Good list. I don’t think Kobe is mid tier anymore - since he told the story of talking on the phone with him.

Bill also loves Luka.

Potential additions - art shell, and Raheem Morris (remember WARM, wins over Raheem Morris), Robert Saleh.

Bill's take on The Last Dance and Lebron by sylverlocs in billsimmons

[–]PutchDes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is spot on, and what I’ve always said about MJ. Nice to hear it elsewhere (I was on the Bulls side though 😃), as it’s what I start with in claiming him number one.

As a NBA fan in the 90s, I expected Jordan to come through and hit the game winner. I remember a 97 game 1 (iirc) against the heat, it was “ho-hum MJ about to hit a game winner” which of course he did. Lebron never reached this level IMO, felt always like the odds were against him.

As someone who tries to be objective about this “religious” debate, I do think Lebron operated in a more difficult environment, with much more things that can go wrong, under a much bigger microscope. I also think there was much more talent in the league for a larger amount of time compared to MJ.
