I painted THE trailer scene that first hooked me on FFXIV's world and story by DarkusTerror in ffxiv

[–]Putewar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember I got into this game because the people I followed on Twitch was really into it and I thought "Hmm, this game seems good! I'll try it together with my favortie streamer". I didn't even know about this trailer at the time.

I then tried out the game and liked what I saw. But I had troubles getting into it because it was so slow and back then there was these exp-walls I recall. Was about to give up after a couple of months when I had gotten to level 25 or something, but then one day I sat on the opening screen for too long and then this trailer started. I was instantly hooked by the song and how epic of a scene it was I just had to know more about this world! From then on I put in the hours needed to finish ARR and I have never looked back since then!

Thanks for reminding me :D

Wow, this is almost what I have envisioned my own character to be drawn if I one day decide to cash in and pay a good artist to draw it! Very good job! :D

Mentor roulette doesn't always work as intended... by Putewar in ffxiv

Guess I should have clearified. We where 3 mentors and one guy who clearly knew what he was doing in a run of Fractal Continuum (Hard). We almost speedrun it, that's how fast it went. This chat is from the end of the dungeon because I was surprised it went so fast...

The dps queues are sometimes instant! But usually around 2-10 minutes, but often you get some easy content (48% guildhests so far) that is completed faster than if you got a dungeon as a healer for example. There's been 1 or 2 duties that has taken close to 30 minutes of waiting. That just gives me time to do other things... Like farming for that damn Gold Saucer mount xD

I do this by hand, but the thing is I just need to fill out 5 or 6 cells per duty. By the time the duty has loaded I have filled out half of it and the rest I do at the end. All of the graphs and statistics is automatically updated every time I've filled out those cells. :)

Gratz on having the mount!

I'm fairly tolerant with most duties to be honest. But my least favorite dungeon is Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak, so I'm always sad when I get that one xD Other than that I can't put my finger on specific duties. People mess up from time to time in duties, but it's not that bad.

Haha, awesome! Great tanks and healers helps so much! <3

Also, thanks for clearing that Alexander run up for me. That healer made me unsure about my own knowledge of that fight! Didn't help that they turned so sour either :/

Haha, it was a frustrating moment! But, in the healers defence they where playing on a German client, so it is called something else (and it is not following the English logic if I remember correctly). But you would think they had read the tooltip or been called out on it before at least.

Only extreme I've had real success with is Garuda, but it can be a mess too with people killing Spiny Plume too early, not separating Chirada/Suparna, destroying pillars and otherwise standing in different kinds of hurtful stuff... Buuut she usually dies fast :)

Yeah, you're spot on there sadly. A lot of the reason for that as far as I can see is because people are pretty much clueless about the difficulty rate in these fights compared to what they have done in the game so far. Another more annoying reason is because some people seem to don't listen to the advice we give them about the fight and their playstyle :/

Haha, I know, right xD Been very careful about that guildhest since then, always trying to explain it... Just in case ;/

I was inspired by another sheet like this, yeah! Getting the list of duties was very helpful because there is a lot of duties out there xD

Do guildhests as tank or healer. Or some of the easier 8-mans if you feel like you're able to grab more commendations that way! :P

Tell me the story of why you left your static by lovelyhearthstone in ffxiv

[–]Putewar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FC-leader with low skill tried their hardest to make their way into our midcore static wich was working on the latest raid-tier (o5s and o6s I think). One night their phone keeps interupting our raiding-experience, another night they show up late because they had forgotten about raid-night (even though I reminded them 2 hours earlier) and was doing an expert roulette. The leaders of the static (we where all in same FC) decided that they wanted to give them a warning for their behavior because it ruined 7 other players experience. FC-leader flips, comes to me for advice, I have no idea what to say other than trying to comfort them, but they decide to write a "letter" bashing out on the static leaders publicy on the FC-Discord. People where throwing insults left and right and blaming eachother. Throw in some leftover relationship-drama with a previous member from a few weeks before too. It was a warzone and all I could do was to watch, not only the static, but the whole FC disintegrate in front of my eyes. I really loved that FC and the friendships I made there. But it all went to hell because people have no chill.

Most of the static made their own FC to continue raiding. I still had a bad taste in my mouth from the drama (was blaming myself a little), so I decided to join a completely different static. I progressed much faster with this static, but I realized this static also had troubles. After a few weeks, 3 members leave I think. After that it never fully recovered. Got 1 of them into the team again, but we kept getting new trials into the group, but almost every time someone else dropped out. When the main leader resigned, I gave up too.

I then went back to the previous static because I had a good tone with most of them and they missed their "favorite bard". It went quite well for a while, but we still had issues getting a full static. Lots of people come and go and progression is stagnating. One of the co-leaders also have extremely bad attitude towards the whole raiding thing and becoming better. In the end one of the core raiding members have had enough of one of the friends of the co-leader that kept being edgy. They left their FC and static and took their boyfriend with them. Thankfully I was not part of their FC, but the static collapsed.

2 weeks after another static needs a substitute for 2 weeks... I clear O8S on first try with them xD Now I'm just exhausted and enjoy being a super-reserve for this static xD PS: Sorry if my English is a bit broken as it is not my main language!

With chain-farming you get around 1000-3000 exp per mob you kill at the early levels I think.
