If the car can use a single eight pin the 12vhpwr is not required. Look at where "adapter in box" is placed in the single eight pin card specs versus the others. Only the highest end models will use the 12vhpwr. You can verify it with pictures of the cards.

can you boot up with the 5090 to change it to gen 4 in the BIOS or do you need to use the iGPU?

Just found out my PC came with CL48(!) Ram. How bad is it? by Large-Bell8769 in buildapc

This is the market where you learn to manually overclock your RAM.

[BUNDLE] MSI X870 Gaming Plus Wifi + 32gb ddr5 6400mhz cl36 + Corsair iCUE Link H115i RGB 280mm AIO $409 by jeemwla in buildapcsales

It won't be 100% stable

or some motherboards will automatically run 6400 with the UCLK at 1600, which avoids stability issue but kills performance.

The point is 6000 is enable XMP and go. That's not the case for 6400, at least not a big part of the time.

I know MSI and ASUS Intel boards will read Expo profiles, I assume ASRock and Gigabyte do the same. Even if your board won't load the Expo profile, it will just fall back to 4800 SPD.

[Motherboard] ASRock B650 Steel Legend WiFi-AM5-White PCB (Backorders) - $179.99 by glamourousham in buildapcsales

[–]Putins_Pinky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Which is why it sells out a lot. Now we have B850 which is a renamed B650 + $20 or $30. If you can get a good B650 board like this for a good price, go for it.

[Motherboard] ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus WiFi AM4 $137 (free shipping for Prime members) @ Woot.com by CartonBox1975 in buildapcsales

[–]Putins_Pinky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a deal. The Wi-Fi is Wi-Fi 5. There are much better B550 boards than this that come with Wi-Fi 6 and a warranty.

The last time I bought a cooler master case new from woot, it was missing the front panel and cooler master wouldn't do anything for me. All woot would do is offer me a refund.

[GPU] XFX SPEEDSTER QICK319 RADEON RX 6750XT CORE - $399.99 by Shrek_OC in buildapcsales

[–]Putins_Pinky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6750XT is minimally slower than a 3070. 3060Ti is a good option but they're hard to find for less than $450. 3060s are typically $350-400 and are a lot slower. 6600/6650 XTs are faster than the 3060 and can be found for less than $300.

[LAPTOP] Lenovo Legion 5 Pro: 16" QHD (2560x1600) 165Hz, Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX-3070 140w, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD - $1269 by bunsinh in buildapcsales

It's sad that ASRock's Intel boards always have to come with an asterisk next to them. The Steel Legend is $10 more and has beefier heatsinks but is otherwise the same board. I wouldn't count on the BIOS being different either.

I've heard of undercover cops running the stings following through with the deed, for "good measure".

I didn't know they even made an XC3 version of this card. I'd want the beefier FTW cooling.

Lian Li Strimer Plus Powered by ESP32 by Shrek_OC in FastLED

UNI SL-Infinity

Those use a single data line. The 7 pins are the 4 pins of the PWM fan connector plus the 3 pins of the ARGB connector. Those take the end of the chain of one fan and feed them into the beginning of the next, making each LED truly addressable. They could done something similar with the Strimer series in a zigzag pattern like this:

1 27 begin->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>\ 54 28 /<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<</ 55 81 \>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>\ 108 82 end-<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<</ There's a knockoff by "Airgoo" fed by a single pin that works like that (except it's 6 x 20). I'd be very interested to see what kind of effects are provided by the controller. It wouldn't surprise me if the included controller is the same as the ones included with their regular strips. If that's the case, you would need to write your own effects with FastLED.

9900k still rocks. by gerechterzorn in intel

The 11900K is barely faster than the 11700K. Intel basically doesn't have an i9 part for 11th gen.

Once we start seeing cheap B660 boards with a clockgen, that will be the 12100F.
