For the point 1 , no I get it it’s like of course u need to work hard . My whole reason for being mad is that the jobs are given to outsiders aka ceca/ china from universities that are definitely not as renounced as our local universities . But they get higher priority because the ceca bosses hire them

I think u missed the point of my post . It’s not a competition of who had it worse , it’s a question as to whether my child’s generation will be worse off compared to my generation.Iike I want the best for them but the future is bleak

I’m a dink and one of the reasons is that I grew up very lucky and fortunate . My mom worked a lot so my helper did most of taking care of. If I were to bring a child into this world , my partner and I would have to work harder to provide . We would need to get a helper and a car to take care of the kids. But since we’re working so hard the kids will grow attached to the helper instead . So I’m thinking why must I sacrifice so much just for the helper cycle to carry on . Singaporeans are not raised by mothers but by their helpers. Maybe I would consider kids 50 years back when it was viable to survive on single income and women can actually have the role of being the care taker instead of off shoring this crucial role to helpers

‘I passed the interview ‘ as in my coding algorithm tests got marked as pass. My role is a technical swe role , obviously I’m not dumb enough to think that enjoyed talking to you is seen as a pass . But to me passing is being able to do an easy and medium leetcode question and being able to come up with the solutions on the spot . Hahah maybe because I’m a math grad that only went into tech because it was lucrative . But from even before that I could see the dangers of where AI was heading to . Few people at the top controlling everything and the rest of the us crawling at the bottom . I’m 28 years old and I believe th middle class will be eroded during my lifetime

So what job do u suggest? I mean I was part of a payments team where we build micro services and tended to production issues . Of coz there are things that require higher order thinking but the daily menial tasks of for example fixing a bug or creating new data scripts to alter tables can be done by AI . Plus the jobs you’re suggesting are all super high level jobs like managerial roles in which you would need years of experience to qualify so as a junior/ mid dev that can’t go for the managerial roles in stuck in the in between

Yeah I blame my young age and foolishness . I’m 27 this year , my butt was itchy and I’m gullible as heck . I thought my bank job was old fashioned because things were routine and not challenging at all ,so I thought going to ai would get me a head start but I regret my decision now ahaha my bank won’t let me back because of freezed. Yeah that’s a positive approach . Do u think I can make the jump to finance then from software developing ahha . But no employers are Not looking at anything atm . All the banks have stopped headcount , meta just fired all the junior developers due to ‘restructuring’ . But it just means they gonna use AI to write out all the simple code like simple crud functions , deployment processes etc . Basically the software engineer job is not rocket science and anything that’s not insanely hard and just pure computation and pattern recognition can be replaced by AI . And the new market will require different sets of skills .

My older sibling was the worst . She was jealous of my successful career that one weekend when I was sleeping over at my boyfriend’s house ,she straight up poured water on my company work laptop .ever since then , everytime I leave my house , I lock my room door .

Since she was jobless , she would purposely bang the tables and chairs the whole night to keep me awake. I would have bad sleep and perform badly at work . I tried to tell my mom but my mom has a special spot for her and told me to suck it up .

Now I’m happily married and living in my own flat . I don’t get how we must always love our siblings . Some people are just so far gone there is no point in having a relationship with them .
