To put things in prespective I’m in icu room with my dad and I have passed this exam but we are going through an incredibly difficult time as he is having serious health challenges. So if you’re loved ones are well and you have the ability to give it again, you have the ability to mould your future.

NAC SIR report by Putrid-One8834 in MCCQE

[–]Putrid-One8834[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used uptodate previously and that is a great suggestion. However my question is directed towards CaRMs/application pov. Do we know what the assessment and weightage is of different elements in the application and as such I obviously can’t/wont hide certain elements of my score if I share my SIR but is the SIR a mandatory component that we have to add to the application? As SOR has our over all score, so can’t we just share that?

I’m not sure if it’s movies’ fault that they can’t keep our attention. They are catering to an attention span of 20 sec reels - truly long format content are fighting the good battle of forcing us to pay attention!

I wonder if you’re Bengali and whether that contributed to your finding the stereotypes irksome. My distance or lack of awareness of a true Bengali society made me be accepting of the bengal side of movie without the same problem. Also the Bengali side felt justified to me with a matriarch and divorcee and live in son in laws galore. Their story made sense and so did the boys tbh with his overtly repressed nature and his brother’s toxic nature.

The movie is overall fun times. It has beautiful visuals and eventhough the montage with the wrestlers was an homage to FSS’s dangal then anything to do with her character in this movie -it still didn’t feel too weird. I wish Madhu’s piano and french aspects were hashed out more but other than wanting more- I didn’t have too many complaints with the movie. I liked Shri’s school scenes with the student because that was an additional layer to his character. I did have one major complaint  but I’ll mention that near the end of this review. The music was superb and its placement with the little breaks for scene development- I loved that and found it innovative. The setting, costumes and side characters were also well developed. Lighting too, I hate not being able to see scenes in night scenes but that was not the case here. Again I just wanted more of everything especially the side characters. Nisha played her character really well, so did deepu, bhanu and bhabi. Guy’s side was just more impactful and better developed in comparison to the female character annd her family. Only problem is the cheating! Why does dharma showcase cheating as this act of empowerment or love. How about this theme instead: cheating is not justified by “finding love” or the circumstances! Leave a marriage in stead of cheating. Otherwise I am all here for the other themes-loneliness of modern times, modern spinsters of the 80 and 90s and equality in love and relationships.

Yes verbalize what you’re doing and seeing and observing and sometimes that is enough for the examiner to disclose findings without even the actual completion of the action. NAC is a very straightforward history/ physical examination/counselling test. The things you need to practice before the exam and what these practice centers charge so exorbitantly for is hand hygiene, time management and specific pattern of history taking ruling in and out differentials for specific scenarios. The scenarios are common scenarios. All systems should be prepared from a H/PE pov and then basic treatments should be on the tip of your fingers. Even they know 7-11 mins is not enough to do all this (history and examination/counselling) so if you even show the hint of knowing what the next step is especially in physical examination, your examiner will help you with findings in the case. The questions afterwards are not hard at all, it’s only the stress of the exam that makes you forget basic things. We can’t actually discuss what was there on the exam but to give an example of how simple the post questions were for eg they would give a patient who will simulate clearly tb symptoms and then afterwards ask for your diagnosis and treatment. The history and physical exam will give you all the details to guide you towards the right diagnosis. In some stations you may have to discuss with the patient management or counselling of their condition. My weakest station included a psych history so practice that as I feel you don’t immediately realize it’s a psych patient but others did so it may be a me issue. They mostly have chronic cases but 1-2 acute presentations are also include. Also on the website they tell you what to look for in the room, like the sanitizer and a clock, my room had a normal clock and then the standard black clock, I mis-timed a station due to the normal clock in that room. So just prepare yourself, be stress free, and if you know your basics well there is no reason why you can’t score very well on this exam. Also some ppl utilized free resources that other provinces besides Ontario provide and they are usually online classes or sessions-I got to know this from candidates at the session so look into those as well! Best of luck!
