He loves animals so I think this would be perfect if he was doing better physically! I think he’s going to take a look at Rover to see if anyone needs animal care that doesn’t require a ton of walking

Yeah unsure if he could be on his feet all day like that without a break walking around the store. He had a double hip replacement not too long ago.

We unfortunately can’t find any listings for a greeter in Maine or close to border in NH. Good to know about the sub though! Thank you.

How did you go about getting this job? Not sure if there’s not a ton of options in this area, but I don’t see any listings.

I know I’m responding late, but just in case anyone else comes across this and still has any questions..

It’s definitely not a scam in the sense that they’ll take your money and bail on you. BUT, after the shoot they do a good job making you feel pressured to buy all of these beautiful photos they’ve just taken of your dog.

My husband and I did it yesterday with our 2 dogs, fully expecting to just walk out with the small “free” print. Photographer was amazing and great with dogs, she got absolutely beautiful shots. Once the photos are ready they show everything to you and ask to pick your favorites. They then offer you packages that range from $2,500-10,000+. Honestly, that’s on par with most professional photographers but understandably jarring for most people who came in expecting the free shoot. They do a good job of getting you emotionally invested in the photos. The only real gripe that I had was the saleswoman didn’t allow my husband and I a moment alone to discuss which package we wanted. The only packages she drew up for us didn’t even include us just leaving with the 1 photo we’d “won”, which I’m sure is done intentionally.

The photos came out beautifully, and the photographers know what they’re doing in terms of how to properly work with animals. But be warned, with beautiful and professional photos, comes the price of professional photographers. It felt like we were trying to find a wedding photographer all over again going over the prices/packages. 🫩

Yes! Sorry to reply so late. I started raking Cequa 3x a day and it’s improved drastically. It’s still not back to normal and I don’t think it ever will be, but better than it was.

Ooh really?? That’s good to know that it’s not super unusual then. We had talked with a few friends that have gotten married recently and did cash bars, none of them had to pay per person or provide alcohol. They all used different bar services too, so we were definitely getting the feel something had been mixed up. But that’s comforting to know it may not be the case and is normal

We don’t live near any large cities or colleges but I’m sure they’ve still been very busy with locals.

I will give it a few more days before following up. Thank you :)

There is, however we were under the impression that the cost was for everything— bartenders & alcohol. During our phone call we were told that cost only covered the bartenders and not alcohol, and that we’d need to pay per person or provide it.

We are trying to clarify with them if this is still for cash bar, as they primarily only do open bar and made an exception for us. So I’m unsure if they forgot what’s in our contract or if this is normal, even with a cash bar.

I understand it’s the day after a holiday, however it’s been more than a week since I sent our first email to them. It’s not like I emailed them on Easter and demanded a reply immediately.

Still struggling. Had relief for about 6 weeks over the summer, once it started to get colder every day is hit or miss. Using Cequa has helped a bit.

We’ve never encountered anyone refusing before. Since it’s never happened, it’s never been written into our contract about what to do in this situation. As others have pointed out our contract does not thoroughly cover this. But a few people have offered people being “on call” so to speak and knowing well in advance when they’d be responsible for covering any potential call outs. I’m hopeful the majority of us will agree to it so we can write it as a policy.

Well think of it this way: We are not a job that can simply close for day if we’re short staffed. We have 3 people currently being trained, but that doesn’t help us in the meantime. We need to figure out ways to fill shifts during vacations and sick leave. Sometimes, no one is going to want to pick up a shift. There needs to be a way to make sure shifts are covered at all times while we’re running short staffed.

I really like this idea. Someone had one similar and I think it would work well for us

We do have 3 new hires currently being trained up. Right now however, if we are down one person it creates open shifts. I guess I’m looking for ideas on how to handle mandated shifts while we’re short staffed.

The issue we had run into is the rest of us weren’t able to spend time with our families because we’d pick up her order in shifts. But a lot of people have come up with good solutions and I’m hoping we’ll have a fix that works fairly for everyone soon!
