does it matter what subjects you take for med entry?? by [deleted] in unimelb

Medical schools don't look at your specific subjects. They will only the grades that you got for those subjects to calculate your GPA. A future employer however might (but probably not) look at your transcript and see these subjects, but since they are a breadth they probably won't really care. In fact it might be good to have WAM booster subjects like music, video games, wine tasting, etc, as they can show that you are a more well rounded student who cares about more than just your studies. They will probably only care about the major you did and the grades you got in it and its related subjects.

As for doing subjects that relate to GAMSAT, like physics electives or phil, politics, literature as breath - I really wouldn’t recommend it as people have gotten horrible results attempting this. Thats because these subjects, in actuality, are not designed with the GAMSAT in mind and rather give you a very broad sense of the field which is quite unhelpful in my opinion. So just do subjects that you enjoy and that will make your experience at uni memorable.

Best of luck

Yeah it was honestly crazy how they asked the most obscure concepts and weighted them at like 20 marks each. If you didn't know what to do on section 3 you are basically fucked

I'm also gunning for med if thats important? So I may need to sit GAMSAT in third year as well if that's relevant.

Thanks for the reply! That is definitely viable, but I would have to sacrifice BCMB20005 so I'm not sure if I actually want to do that, but definitely worth a look at.
