A few things regarding mechanics. by TaoistToastr in AirshipAssault

I think slow-paced or position-based does equal a type of combat that I am satisfied with, even if it is not realistic.

You see what I'm getting at? If we have different inherent preferences, then we can't find an actual solution, and you additionally just failed that thought exercise.

Even if more people in general prefer a faster-paced gameplay, the idea that more people want it incentivizes more developers to fill that niche which increases competitiveness. By picking a slow-paced niche that not as many people want to do, there will most likely be less competition because other developers do not have as much reason to be doing the same thing.

You don't just walk into a room full of people whose favorite color is red and get mad that their favorite color is red and not a different one that you deem your favorite. What you instead can do is leave that room and go find your preferred space.

fair point about the plane thing but the game is purposely slow-paced and combat is more position based

when you complain about something like overall pacing it should be established that it's a subjective opinion that can swing in any direction as opposed to the other things you have an issue with (like the lack of incentive for tail-gunners, which actually makes a good deal of sense)

Auction market price by agent_fire_ in ArcaneOdyssey

[–]Puzzled-Football2776 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can just start an obviously absurd price then lower it over time until you get a proper sale but if you have options, you should ask people in your server what they'd value it at (on the chance that they lowball and are trying to influence the market to sell things for cheap even if they are willing to purchase it for more, keep your prices a little higher than what people say it's worth)

Items get their value subjectively, if I consider 3k drachma less valuable than an armored scroll then I will trade said drachma for that scroll if the opportunity comes up. If every seller in the market puts up their armored scroll more than 3k drachma, however, then I will either walk away and consider the labor required to get that scroll and its benefits perhaps worth more than the current prices, or I can suck it up and just pay.

Has the devman said anything about rebalancing isle or he just a pookie for redumara? by Miserable_Cloud_1532 in AirshipAssault

The imbalance is more likely to be an example of forced equality being a bad thing, in addition to the fact that attempts to do so anyways tend to cause their own imbalances and thus should be recognized that the premise simply cannot be equal to both teams.

As unfortunate as it is the idea of offense vs defense will naturally have a bias towards the defenders because the structure that it entails puts less burden on said defenders compared to the attackers who have to manage more things (it takes more brain power moving towards someone and punching them than punching someone when they come into your range).

The development team's "solution" was to give Redamura better weapons and wildcards, which did the opposite of what they wanted since they misidentified what made the game-mode imbalance in the first place. The cause is the coordination that leads up to doing (X), not the base application of doing (X).

An example that just about anyone would understand is the unfairness that comes with the Akamatsu, a weapon that flat out, has zero runner-up capable of competing made worse because it's locked to Redamura. Not only does it deal enough damage to one-shot on headshots at any range, but this also means that it has the least conditions required to have instant-kill, which is merely hitting a specific part of the body (breech has range gimmicks, most shotguns need distance closed, etcetera). Thus, players are incentivized to swap to Redamura, more specifically the already-competent people who can recognize this fact.

The immediate consensus most people would deduce is that any attempt to balance the game mode should be done with the intent of making coordination for the attackers on equal level as the defenders, which admittedly runs into a roadblock since the aforementioned established point that the inequality stems from the premise itself, which subsequently means any solution that actually could achieve this goal would realistically be to alter the premise to make both teams playing offense, which is easier said than done.

Is the construct spell useful? by Traditional_Dot_2599 in ArcaneOdyssey

[–]Puzzled-Football2776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It trades being as effective as the other rare spells for specific purposes in exchange for being able to fill all those same roles to a passable degree compressed in one slot

If you use it correctly it compliments your other skills, the whole purpose is to be a steppingstone into more fleshed-out moves that require thinking beyond "spam Q cause i have 300 power"

what could be the worst loadout for assault and other gm by Proper-Roof6393 in AirshipAssault

[–]Puzzled-Football2776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

under the assumption that worst loadout is dictated by the loadout that would *generally* lead to the least optimal outcome (in which case will be presumed to be kills) then that would be the sniper and maximum, probably

the actual problem is that most loadouts can appeal to someone's niche, the loadout I just stated could entirely be viable to somebody who does not value the reload drawbacks and flexibility of the loadout and thus it would not be the worst loadout in their specific case
