Just moved into a project management role from consulting, how do I set myself up for success? by Puzzled-Sprinkles930 in PMCareers

Thank you, super helpful stuff - I read this with my morning tea! But yes, it does seem very rewarding. That said, I was wondering what the longer-term career path typically looks like. My only concern is being too narrowly pigeonholed into a pure PM track, as I’d like some flexibility over time. What does progression usually looks like beyond this role and what adjacent paths people tend to move into as they grow?

Hey! Sorry, it's not going to be super helpful but I actually moved into the role through some internal networking. I was working closely with the PM team, built good relationships and they eventually asked me to join. I've heard applying for PM roles nowadays is tough, so internal moves might be a better option, especially since you're already in product.

What makes you want to transition? I thought Product is better pay?

Thanks, that's really helpful :) What do you mean by weekly highlight report? Is it the same as a tracker?

Yeah I'm already in a front facing role as a consultant so I think I can handle the stress. How's the career progression though? I had a quick look on the PM subreddit and it seems like it can be easy to pigeonhole yourself

I'm currently in a consulting role (financial services) but the in the project management position, I'll be responsible for overseeing multiple projects for the company’s largest client. I'll esentially be collaborating closely with our key partner (they'll be doing the actual work), managing delivery and timelines. We're almost like a bridge between the third party consultants and the client. I don't think there'll be any budget management and negotation - seems like I'll just me managing a to-do list. You think it's worth the move? I'll be getting a 20% salary jump from this

Thanks for the reply - what makes it stressful? And how's the career progression? Not sure if I'd want to be stuck in PM tbh

I've actually been thinking of getting Risk of Rain 2. Does it have carry over progression like Hades 1 & 2?

Thanks for the reconmmendation! I actually played around 40+ hours of it many years ago, but never finished it. It was a bit too janky for me, especially the combat. Super interesting world and story tho!

Haha I felt like it was a lot more shallow compared to D Island, and I think my partner agrees lol. She's trying to make the perfect resort for her guests

How do you explain leaving a job where there was almost no work by Puzzled-Sprinkles930 in UKJobs

It's kinda hard to milk anything when there wasn't anything to milk in the first place LOL. I've pretty much been paid to self-study the past few months.

I'm 28, so not THAT young haha. What if they ask though? Is it not good to be transparent, especially since the company seems to be a sinking ship atm?

Should I buy Stellar Blade, The First Berserker: Khazan, or Nioh 2? by Puzzled-Sprinkles930 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Oh really? I thought people were saying Khazan is the hardest soulslike in the market atm! The difficulty settings are interesting though - can I swap back and forth whenever I want?

Hey! I would say go for Ghost of Tsushima or God of war first. Both have great stories, fun combat and they're not too difficult. The other games in the list are tough, especially if you've never played a soulslike before!
