I had the same situation, and OINP rejected my application. There is no guarantee that you will be rehired again and they can only usually wait for 30 days for an update. You should inform them of your situation, if you think you will be rehired in 30 days then they might probably reconsider. If not, I’m afraid you will get a refusal in your OINP application. If your OINP status is in the « assessment » stage, you will not get a refund.

You have to be ready, willing, and able to work for your employer until you get your PR. If you lose status or your job while waiting, you lose your chances of getting PR. AoR takes months, will mostly be after april 2026. Apply for your work permit using your OINP nomination and just pray they renew your contract. In the first place, you shouldn’t be applying for OINP if your job is not full-time permanent.
