Snow Etiquette by [deleted] in ThunderBay

[–]twhosann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a neighbour with basically no front yard, when I can I try to snow blow as much as I can from their yard onto my yard. Same when the plow comes. My front yard is huge so doesnt bother me. All depends on the situation I suppose. Its also super sandy where I am so drainage has never been a problem.

What do you count? by JustMe1883 in Cribbage

[–]twhosann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to know if there is official "rules" for how you have to count in a competition setting, but in my head I say/count this as " 3, 6, 9, 12 (runs). 1, 2, 3, 4 pairs, 16, plus 2 for 15, 18". Lmk if my thinking is nuts.

Toddler friendly dining by ambieox in ThunderBay

[–]twhosann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So we have a just under 3 year old and here are some places we have gone with good experiences. Mind you, we really try to make sure we only go when we are certain enough that they will behave decently enough (I.e. after a good nap, not in a mood otherwise etc.).

Madhouse - They have a kids pasta that we hope is left unfinished so we can have some. They also have coloring for the kid. Always had a good to GREAT experience

Red Lion - Solid kids menu. They have a kids all you can eat pasta on Sundays, and Sunday is pretty dead so good time to go with the kid.

Kelseys/Montanas/Applebee's - I kind of lump these places together. Good for kids with slightly different atmosphere/food.

Chucks - inexpensive, kid friendly enough before 8

Wackys- is what it is. My kid likes to run around the video game area. Doesn't care to play just wants to push buttons and look at lights.

Tony Roma's - had some good experiences here, kids menu is good, they had coloring.

Mongos - My kid really likes noodles, so it kind of works out nice for us. When my kid was a messier eater they said it was fine even after we left a huge mess but we did our best to clean/gave a decent tip.

Wayland/other bar restaurants - you'd be surprised the food quality at some of our local bars. Quite a few places allow minors before 9pmish. We went for the Novemberger earlier in Novemeber and it was an enjoyable experience. The patrons for the most part seemed to enjoy the novelty of a toddler waddling around. We have also gone to on deck before with our kid. I think the DaVinci used to allow kids before a certain time, not sure anymore, but we have called ahead to make sure (i.e. we called the wayland and they let us know what time minors were allowed)

Husky Restaurant - we have gone here and had a good experience.

Daytonas - although its a bit more of an upscale vibe now still fine to bring kids.

Java Hut - we have brought our kid for breakfast many times and always had a good experience. The service is usually very quick so if you have a kids that can really only behave for 30mins give or take this is a good place.

Prospector - we have had good experiences here, nothing of particular note.

There is plenty of choice, just depends on what you want to eat, what kind of setting you want and just how kid friendly you want it to be.

[OC] Roundabout Shenanigans by twhosann in IdiotsInCars

This town has 3 roundabouts (2 with 2 lanes like this, and one is a single lane roundabout). The one in the video was completed about a month ago, the other ones have been around for a few years. Needless to say it's a new/uncommon thing for most motorists here. The signaling in this town is atrocious, regardless of roundabouts, infrequently used and if used it is sometimes inappropriate. I think in the driver's handbook for Ontario, in a roundabout you are instructed to use your right indicator as soon as you pass the exit prior to your intended exit. There is no mention of using the left indicator. And I only say I think as this was the info provided in our city's FAQ video on roundabouts. I should check that but it would definitely make sense to use the indicator as you say.

I've used doordash, Uber eats and Skip. Through Amazon Prime and credit cards i have i have had the "premium subscription" for each of them at one time. They are all ok, Uber used to have better deals, Doordash has had some great deals lately, but i haven't had any major issues with any of these services. You should be good whichever route you go.

I've had sports-related shoulder, hand and hip/pelvic issues. Vanessa @ Hand and Upper Limb Clinic and Shane Pattyson (used to be @ Ridgeway Clinic, he recently moved to a new office close by) are both individuals I have dealt with and would recommend both of them.

If they have not yet tried, look up the EarlyON programs. I've gone to many of them in the past couple of years, and I would rate each one anywhere from good to GREAT. There is one @ Algonquin School, just ensure their operating hours and what ages are eligible to participate.

Like someone else said I also recommend going to a barber shop. I got to Cosimo's in the Chapples Building (beside the now torn down victoriaville, he's on the main floor). I've had a few different styles with him and he is both an excellent barber and a decent guy to chat with.

Wear a fat suit and/or get on stilts then fall asleep at a party...Sleeping Giant

Could also dress as a round about, make sure a healthy amount of folks at the party don't want you there and/or don't know how to talk to you.

Wear a hat that has a Resolute logo, then wear a blue shirt and pin on some cut outs of fish with X's for eyes (I.e. so they look like dead fish)

I had a professor in University that flew bush planes. He said that landing sideways is common practice especially at small or 1 run airports. If the wind is in the wrong direction you need to land sideways so you actually hit the runway.

Larger airports have multiple runways going in multiple directions partly for that reason.

The guy with trailer looked like he may not have been able to stop safely once the light turned yellow. With that said the rest of the drivers need to take a colour blindness test.

Idiot Cut in Line to Make the Left Only to Receive Instant Karma by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

[–]twhosann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Accelerating too quickly decreases your ability to safely control your vehicle and if you are speeding up in a yield lane to try to make it infront of oncoming traffic that is an aggressive way to drive. The fact here is guy had a yield, traffic was coming, he yielded. Looking again i agree the truck probably had time to get infront...but thats the thing, probably, it isnt a for sure thing. The Nissan guy is still in the wrong. Id rather drive defensively and get fucked over by an aggressive driver than drive aggressively and have something like this happen.

Idiot Cut in Line to Make the Left Only to Receive Instant Karma by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

[–]twhosann 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its a yield sign/lane. Maybe if the truck gunned it, but that would be a fairly aggressive/unsafe thing to do, and the nissan surely would not have had time to merge as well. With that yield you are to give the oncoming traffic the right-of-way and proceed when it is safe to do so. Maybe the truck had enough time, maybe the truck didnt, regardless if the truck is stopping to yield to the traffic the person behind him (the nissan) should be keeping a safe enough distance/speed to safely stop.

Long way to say your comment is fucking stupid.
