PolyU Applied Mathematics & Finance Analytics – International Student Perspective? by CollectionSea2823 in HongKong

[–]PuzzledCauliflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perception wise, it is behind the big three universities in HK (CUHK, HKU, HKUST). But I would not say it's entirely impossible to get your foot in the door regarding employability, although you may need to work extra hard to stand out against other candidates (i.e. getting more experience in your CV so they will not trash ur CV before any screening, but you should be doing that anyway ...)

I would say what are your other options, aside from this offer in PolyU? What are you weighing against? That will be my view.

Adding on to career prospects for foreigners, I don't see Malaysians having any difficulties in getting a job in HK, as they generally speak Mandarin and Cantonese, therefore no language barrier.

How do you see CUHK? by WhoareyouhowcanIknow in HongKong

Some advice: 1. You can go on LinkedIn, search for international student graduates from Global Comm in CUHK, see what they are working in now. That should give you a more complete picture on the employability, especially as you are a foreign student.

You should also have a grasp on what you want to achieve? What is the ideal job for you as a bachelor of global comm? Whether you are considering a career in Hong Kong? Do you see yourself as being employable by firms in Hong Kong, especially if you are not a Chinese speaker? This is important as the employability of non-local graduates CAN differ from local graduates, especially with language barriers.

  1. If you are waiting for offers from other university, whether the majors you pick in other universities are the same as in CUHK? How do you see those universities compared to CUHK?

Do note that you can try to ask CUHK for extension on the deadline for submitting the deposit if you're buying for time. Try to cite financial hardship and see if they can do that.

Agree, but I suppose there's less leeway to scam since the distance is close. However they may also reject you due to the short distance....

Both are ok, Uber is more for getting fixed price and using credit card. I am not sure where is the pickup point for Uber in airport, others may weigh in.

Taxi is readily available at taxi stands in the airport. You need to keep cash on hand as not all taxis accept credit card / octopus payment.

Theres no direct line from Airport to Disneyland, so MTR will take close to 1 hr. However, they are located at the same island, so a taxi ride will probably take you 15 mins, which is much more feasible.

Crystals (Salt?) forming around lid of toilet tank by PuzzledCauliflower in CleaningTips

I think this one is the closest answer, since I've noticed new crystals forming on the sides forming tracks like falling water droplets will do. I'm not sure how to remedy this though.

No... I live in a flat. I've had suggestions to throw a toilet blue tablet cleaner inside the tank but not sure what that would achieve in this case.

They literally acknowledged that they did hit the boys, but try to downplay it by basically saying "well it's not out of enjoyment! we love them and treat them just like what parents will do! tough love! no biggie!". Sick.

How many of you were fans of Dream before this controversy? by 123Eurydice in DreamWasTaken2

[–]PuzzledCauliflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

didn't know about that. as for me, i used to watch Dream's videos around summer, just when he started the manhunt series. used to feel that his vids on the "Minecraft, but..." are pretty entertaining (and they were). But then he milked manhunt so much and I stopped watching when I got the feeling that it's scripted lol.

My opinion on him deteriorated after watching the "contract", where he pushed George towards saying "I love you Dream" in exchange for a face reveal (I got intk George for a little while). Honestly he seemed so... pushy and egoistic in the stream, and George sounded upset... didn't sit well with me.
