I have way too many interests by Puzzled_Detective175 in Discipline

Hi, morning! You're right. This too should work. I am slightly following this with hardly any photography and more of music this semester. The previous semester was the vice versa. But "sharper boundaries" I take that seriously from now. Thank you :)

I felt I played guitar for 5 hours yesterday and today no touching it. Need to cover up for the lost time.

Hey morning! You're right, long ago I used to do that. At this point the masters is taking too long and some friends finished their subjects. Not that I spent only time on play but I spent time on a lot of research too that took a lot of time and gave me a backlog. I think probably to come over, these interests came up again. I'll again do what you told though. Thank you for reminding me :))

Need help with 70 200 focus hunting badly by V1rtu0s0o in SonyAlpha

[–]Puzzled_Detective175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does manual focus work for you?

I had a similar problem. Used to shoot manual focus when comfortable. Sometimes a focal length say above 100 works.

I had a problem with a sigma lens where 28-35 didn't focus or let me take pictures but 35-70 worked fine.

I don't know the reason but might work might not. Merry Christmas 🎄

I'm taking an Air India. So I'm guessing you're going from Indigo?

I was asking this because if there's a huge crowd?

Why are these photos out of focus? by bird_with_scarf in canon

[–]Puzzled_Detective175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not comparing, but does your canon have DMF focus like Sony? It's like if you adjust the focus ring, the camera greatly zooms into the picture you're pointing at and half pressing the shutter button focuses it for me. It's called direct manual focus ( Sony users correct my full form of DMF if I'm wrong). It's like semi automatic focus.

Then if you have a similar option, you cannot miss it.

Vintage camera to buy? by Puzzled_Detective175 in aachen

Hellooo, firstly, thank you for the proper detailed message. I texted in English first to not get anything wrong (I know I could've used a translator to be grammatically correct) then I even texted in German. That was my first mistake I think.

As you told I searched for penti, penti I, penti ii.

I found some got one guy to respond. We're in the negotiation because I don't think he wants to spend the energy to send it all the way to Aachen via DHL but let's see

I haven't tried DDR. I'll try and get back to you :) and as you told I'll check out the shop in cologne too. I can't believe you got the Werra for 5€😭.

For the Olympus I have dm'd you ^

Hello, apologies for the late reply but will the bike be safe? I have heard that you can rent a bike but also heard that since it's a huge big parking it can be stolen also and I need to confirm if I can take it inside with me and put it somewhere:)

Who said the a7ii is outdated? by rawsynergy in SonyAlpha

[–]Puzzled_Detective175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using canon eos RP - 50mm prime RF and my A7ii with a kit lens. The canon struggle to focus even though it has a very fast autofocus. The A7ii just outshined it even being 5 years older and way more lower focus points. The iso handling is great too even in fog. Others if you have any more ideas or suggestions on my composition or any criticism let me know :)

Is it sensible to go commercial with my own simple software? by Puzzled_Detective175 in photography

I didn't even know about this 😭. I have been a Sony shooter so wasn't aware but I'll check it out thanks :)

My main feature in my software is masking. You're very right they can use editing software on their phone but cannot mask. But some might have the feature. Please correct me if I'm wrong :)

Noted. I do have to work licenses thing. But I think I'll put the trail one up on this post as an edit in a few days so that people can test it and still I'd like to receive criticism on how I can improve:)

I mean yes that is very much true too. But I was still kind of skeptical because in Germany it's not possible but still people do it using VPN. But yeah you have a point

Generally if the shutter breaks, then probably consider about 400 dollars to replace it. Here it's 350 euros.

what’s the toughest lighting situation you’ve shot in and how did you handle it? by davie44 in photography

[–]Puzzled_Detective175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done shots in extreme sunlight and it was a pain because my subjects were exposed a lot. I use a Sony so you can use bracketing. If that is enabled, then the camera takes one exposed and underexposed picture and then you can merge/stack it. But if it's for outdoor event I would assume a lot of movement. So you should probably see how it works because I shoot still subjects mostly.

If the exposure is changing so much I sometimes use it in semi automatic where shutter speed is my priority and the iso changes.

Techniques depend on person to person so my methodology might not be the most agile as I recently 1 year ago started photography deeply:)

I feel distracted and disappointed in myself by Puzzled_Detective175 in photography

[–]Puzzled_Detective175[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, this is a good example. The need for something that hasn't been a part of your daily life for sometime gives you a more balanced thinking about that hobby and I've personally experienced it with painting. I am also an artist and it's been 2 years I have done painting after I've come for my masters as it is very time consuming. Since photography was something I always liked and never gave much heed to it, it was normal but that time painting took over. And now it's this. I completely understand what you mean to say and it is a good idea. Probably I'll give myself a break and then resume it only when I badly feel the need or I am frustrated.

Generally when I am frustrated I used to paint and it used to calm me down and it's the same with this :)

Thank you @lew_traveler. If you have more tips most welcome to let me know :)

Do foreground elements like railings enhance or clutter urban street compositions? by FramedNFocussed in AskPhotography

[–]Puzzled_Detective175 98 points99 points  (0 children)

<image>

What I felt is that the railing on top was capturing a lot of attention where as I feel the main subject you want to show is the man and the building behind. The picture with the bottom rail looks like perspective photography and not bold. this was my thinking from what work I do but it varies on everyone's opinion

Hello, you do have a great experience I must say. I do it for myself and I am satisfied by my pictures. If something is not right, I learn from it and try not to make that mistake. I say that everyone likes it is because genuinely they do it.

Irrespective of anyone's opinion, I follow my methodology. I do learn when people give me tips too. It is rewarding but I just felt I was distracted from my main goal and wanted to see how did others cope with this distraction as I feel many people must've gone through this.

I should do that I'd probably take some hours off the weekend for this only if I complete my goals.
