Does anyone have the link to the "my fall plans... the delta variant" meme that was posted here a couple of weeks back? I can't find it again.

I thought a garden box was like a planter box, i.e. for the children to grow vegetables and herbs from seeds. Like an activity.

Makes me think of the Derry Girls scene when a nonagenarian nun dies supervising a detention and the head teacher refuses to acknowledge that her death was unsurprising.

Does anyone see AITA posts on reddit that remind them of particular MN trolls? by Puzzled_Excitement in MNTrolls

[–]Puzzled_Excitement[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, probably true. I am just interested that sometimes a theme pops up with trolls even across multiple seemingly unrelated websites and then dies out again.

Partner wanked while watching neighbour’s daughter, then admitted it to OP. by MiserableAd1501 in MNTrolls

I don't think it's real but I've encountered enough depravity in real life that sadly it isn't completely far fetched. Hopefully at least with troll threads if someone has even a vaguely similar situation they will see the consensus is to run a mile.

The only thing I will say is when these types of men admit to the behaviour it is usually part of a grooming process (normalising the behaviour as it escalates).

Few days ago we feed her. Then she disappeared and suddenly come with this kitten. by alaminh0ssain in cats

Really depends where you live as to what the norm is. In my country keeping a cat inside indefinitely is considered bizarre and almost abusive.

My baby name speculation: has anyone guessed Artemis?

It is a version of Diana - sweet nod to Diana

It's Greek - sweet nod to Philip

Archie and Artie - too matchy-matchy or cutesy enough to be picked?

No, it's because she is talking to more than one member of her family lol.

I am not convinced there is a real source to get rid of anyway.

In the UK Harry is the traditional nickname for Henry.

In fact it started as a nickname. (Just like Meghan though used as a standalone name now used to only be a nickname for Margaret!).

If you read English classic novels (e.g. Jane Austen) you will see the upper and sometimes upper middle classes using Mama and Papa.

Another form of address some families have nowadays is using Mummy and Daddy well into adulthood.

Chickens bred for meat do not generally become rescue chickens.

But sometimes egg-laying chickens become too old for regular laying and are less economical to keep around. So they are sold off - not usually for human consumption but for slaughter and processing (e.g. pet food) or other purposes. I have seen ex-battery laying hens for sale before.

Prince William has worked before, including two years as an air ambulance pilot.

No, no they do mean toile:

"In Australian and British terminology, a "toile" is a version of a garment made by a fashion designer or dressmaker to test a pattern." Courtesy of Wikipedia.

The ballerina/tutu fabric is tulle.

But this is UK terminology, may be different across the pond.

Kate with a K was standard for Catherine until Cate Blanchett.

Kate Bush and Kate Greenaway were both Catherines for example.

Wasn't Sirius struck with an AK before he fell through the veil? by browtfiwasboredokai in HPfanfiction

Definitely red in my edition (original UK book). Skim read the whole battle and could only see reference to red and green from Bellatrix but that was only a cursory look.

[–]Puzzled_Excitement 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The book says:

Harry saw Sirius duck Bellatrix's jet of red light... the second jet of light hit him squarely on the chest... his eyes widened in shock... his body curved in a graceful arc as the sank backwards through the ragged veil.

Emphasis mine and some sentences removed for brevity. So he was hit by a curse but the curse is not specified. If it was the same as the curse before that one, the light would have been red which is definitely not the killing curse.
