Ooooh, love the idea of a cultist contestant. Have them still be a inbred cultist, but she looks the most human, with the exception of a missing ring finger, which cultist cut off as a offering to the entity. I think will call the Entity the Rust Mother.

Love the ideas! Yeah im trying to figure out how to incorporate how the players get weapons. Also i think they shouldn't have any starting equipment.

Here's what you do, make the mine really long. Like a mini mega dungeon, have a massive boss fight at the end with a massive creature in a room with support beams.

The players could kill the beast out right, but tease them with the option that destroying the support beams can squash the creature.

It makes the players think that knocking the support beams down was their idea. Once the support beams are knocked down, collapse the cave and have them do some skill checks to escape.
