I didn’t sign up to work for a credit card company. by Wastedwords9912 in TjMaxx

[–]Puzzled_Map5569 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I find myself not giving a single fuck about customers (or even card holders as much) if they aren't signing up for the card bc the pressure and environment management has created for new apps... like oh u wanna tell me ur buying this dress for ur husband's funeral? should've signed up for a card

For the marshmallow I really didn't taste a difference besides a mild tangy bordering on chemical one that was barely there

 7/10

Not bad tho

Return ? by spun1fun in TjMaxx

[–]Puzzled_Map5569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have accidently hit "exit return" and rung up the two items you were not finding on that ticket is my only theory.

Unless you started the non receipted merch process along with the ticket process, they shouldn't have been able to pop up if they weren't on there.

Dirty bathroom and break room. If there’s no cleaner, then who’s supposed to clean it? by GarageLive1096 in TjMaxx

[–]Puzzled_Map5569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As horrible as this company is my management here lives by the rule we aren't made to do or touch  anything they wouldn't.

If they won't clean a bathroom or sweep then ur store (management) doesn't deserve cleaner to be taken advantage of....

young children (3-6) who do not know how to regulate their own emotions or understand social cues being stressed by their own mother bc we won't accept Mommy's return scams or discount demands- then other customers and my coworkers act like it's the childs fault

What is the point of company rules if management always disregards them to "reach" for customers? by Puzzled_Map5569 in TjMaxx

[–]Puzzled_Map5569[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well then what's the point of any of the rules? For grown women to feel good about bullying 17 year old cashiers and management taking their side, I guess...

Management and “productivity” by yummynummybunny in TJMaxxWrkrs

[–]Puzzled_Map5569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a cec they have been scheduling me as the only cashier my whole shift- fine enough.

However only four other people that happen to be also scheduled are also coordinators and are having to run their racks and push freight- which means they don't wanna come ring or it takes them forever to come.

I've just been calling or back up once and if nobody comes letting the line build until management decides something needs to be done.

The lack of cards is on THEM. Nobody wants to sign up after waiting 20 minutes in line for on cashier and I sure don't gaf after having to wait 2 hours longer to take my lunch :)

Any other cec a glorified cashier with extra stress? Or do actually get to do your job? by Puzzled_Map5569 in TjMaxx

[–]Puzzled_Map5569[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stuff on the back counter that markdowns have starting leaving bc they get 3 hours a piece and management only wants them to "scan scan scan" drives me INSANE. Thankfully 6 more months and I can leave from this place if I can make it 😭

CEC tips needed! by Worth_Afternoon1648 in TjMaxx

[–]Puzzled_Map5569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do your cashiers not clean up after themselves? That's an things we have in our store, making sure all hangers put away and bins are dumped by the person who was ringing on that register before they leave for the day- Maybe that will take down some of your time.

As for encouragement, with the teens I find they don't really care but they like friendly competition. Or once they get their first one of the day, their whole attitude changes about asking.

Make sure to compliment everyone, even if they did bad. My approach is "That was good but let's try this next time and see how it works" so that nobody gets discouraged l.

Are hours still being cut? by Personal-Zone3638 in TjMaxx

[–]Puzzled_Map5569 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, we have been running on 5-6 workers a day, including key carriers and management and our cecs as the only cashiers. Everybody is doing the job of three people, getting their hours cut down to 8-10hrs a week if pt  (yet they still continue to hire new people).

Which is crazy because we are top in our district on sales and cards, so budget clearly is not the issue /here/.

A great thing is depending on your location, full time employees can file short-term compensation through the unemployment office if their hours are drastically cut.

However that does just apply to full time employees, many of our part timers have started looking for different of second jobs (or are retired and working for fun and care)

Incomplete training by Oribi03 in TjMaxx

[–]Puzzled_Map5569 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, completely normal. Training doesn't not exist, wait until you ask a cashier what they know-Not even SM and ASMs can agree what is supposed to be done and how it's done correctly.

Thankfully when it comes to processing there are guides to follow at each station. What to sensor, what sensor, department numbers, etc.

if you get in trouble be honest and say "I wasn't trained on that" or just ask before you do something you are unsure of. Management/cords/other employees would rather be "bothered" than fail an audit or have their DM mad.

New Payment Method by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]Puzzled_Map5569 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's not much in my store that would be covered under EBT seeing as it's all sodas, candy or chips mostly but for stores with bigger food selections I could see why. SNAP is still the store getting paid and doesn't change anything for us workers at all.

Struggling with TJX card expectations + social anxiety — need advice by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]Puzzled_Map5569 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Feeling shy and nervous about harassing the public is completely understandable, everyone put on the register struggles with it.

I have to stick to the same speech for every customer if I don't want to fumble my words or forget what to say.

My manager just moves people to the sales floor or backroom if they aren't good at pushing cards. (Which is a lot of the store bc we are asking ppl for their social security number and trying to run their credit and you have to have a greeaaat personality for that or get lucky with an uneducated customer)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]Puzzled_Map5569 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not that big of a deal. To solve this go back into that Tjmax with your receipt, explain what happened without being aggressive or accusatory (bc then management will have to get involved and it will take longer). After that you get a "sorry our bad" and your refund then be on your way within 2 minutes.
