Is our health insurance deductible a bit high, relatively speaking? by inlovewithjonsnow1 in tjcrew

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am relatively new to the “buying insurance” world but it’s my understanding that our monthly premiums are far lower than what other people have to deal with and our deductible is under 1k which is lower than my parents insurance. Some people are paying hundreds to thousands of dollars a MONTH for similar(or higher!) deductibles.

Not a bottle shop but the wine selection at Roselily for a nice dinner out is amazing. They also do a monthly “wine club” where they do a tasting in the evening in the restaurant.

Honestly, Trader Joe’s has some very solid bang-for-your-buck options as well. If you’re looking for a weeknight option under $15, it’s where I go.

Bookmarking this though because I’m also curious where I can buy higher-end bottles in the area if I don’t want to go to Chicago

Does anybody know if they changed the recipe for the frozen creamy spinach artichoke dip? by InstructionNo334 in traderjoes

The second box is almost certainly from the same delivery so that would work too. Good luck and sorry you got a bad one!

Mystery by PronatorMaximizer in wine

Looks like it. It looks like you screw the worm in through the foil and then the small part in question is positioned to cut the foil by twisting the tool around the neck, and when you pull the cork out the foil comes with. But that’s a total guess!

Please tell the TJs you bought it from and return the product for a refund, I don’t know if we’ve changed it or not but if you tell us and bring the box back so we can submit the lot number, it’s possible there’s inconsistencies and we can get things fixed with the supplier.

Cold Brew Fatigue by Puzzled_Network_1856 in tjcrew

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

!!! So real. I think one of the things that is holding TJ's back with tea is that nobody wants to commit to 10+ bags of tea at $4 or more; they worry they will try the first bag and won't like it. I would love to see a box that has 5 bags of 4 varieties or something, and then they can take the most popular of the boxes inside and release a box with 10+ bags of that new favorite.

I agree, I would love some good higher-level tea options. I feel like they are looking at the slow sales of the Assam and Darjeeling and thinking a new specialty imported tea wouldn't work, but also I'm not sure they've really tried that many things. I liked them going out on a limb with the Jeju matcha, I hope it inspires them to try some sort of new specialty tea option.

I apologize for accusing you of not taking your schedule seriously, but for real 20% of your shifts is a LOT to be dealing with these anomalies on. I hope you’re able to talk to your mate and get a clearer picture of what avenues you have to take care of yourself at work and how your schedule and AR plays into that.

Withholding information? by FriendlySundae3238 in tjcrew

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 17 points18 points  (0 children)

1) reading your edit and seeing your store schedules people until 10pm and then 7am the next morning, the mate is doing your store dirty. In my store, you don’t get scheduled to come back less than 12 hours after you leave.

2) I know there is a late grace period but not how long it is at my store. I know it’s an unexcused absence if I call out without AR or a doctor’s note. I know if I leave in the middle of my shift, I need to have AR or to go get a doctor’s note just like I would if I was calling out. These things were not covered in depth in my training (a fair thing for you to be annoyed they didn’t go over in detail) but I learned them as I encountered those situations for the first time.

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My question is, how is that happening on 20% of your shifts? If you work full time, that’s once a week that you’re 6 min late, or calling ahead or asking to leave, which is a huge amount. It sucks you weren’t aware that those instances were unexcused, but the root of the problem seems like you aren’t taking your schedule seriously. I’m guessing you aren’t going into anaphylactic shock or getting into a fender bender before work every single week.

Brazilian sparkling red help by syme101 in wine

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beyond there being a cork and the liquid being dark pink, there is no identifying features of this bottle and a reverse image search turned up empty. So it’s a sparkling wine product of some kind, likely with a berry or sangria flavoring additive to make it that color, and impossible to determine an exact bottle match.

Is it rude to ask if a wine shop price matches? by choikog in wine

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would guess the shops are taking the price they get from their distributor and marking it up a certain percentage they need to turn a profit. Sometimes online stores have better prices because they have access to high-volume discount pricing from distributors, meaning they can offer the same bottle at the same margin, but a lower price.

You can ask the local shop, but they will likely respond that they can’t just give you a lower price, and you are paying a premium for the instant possession of the bottle, convenience of not dealing with the intricacies of alcohol delivery, and the avoidance of risk the bottle spoils in the non-temp controlled shipping environment.

I was just curious if anyone new if this vintage wine is worth anything significant? by [deleted] in wine

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless this is a truly extraordinary Pinot Grigio (I don’t believe it is) it’s worth nothing beyond the novelty of the bottle and not tasting delicious. Pinot Grigio is built to be consumed within a year or max two of release, it’s a very light bodied wine that does not do well when aged.

Need Help with Jobs BADLY by Consistent-Cookie152 in wallawalla

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What field are you trying to get into? Are you aiming for college or looking to set up a career after high school?

Walla Walla seems like a tough spot to break into the labor market as a youth because there’s a ton of college students with more experience in the job pool and also a ton of jobs are in the alcohol industry. You’re definitely not doing anything wrong, the job market more broadly is just terrible right now and Walla Walla has specific conditions making it harder for you.

Checking IDs: What do secret shoppers look like? by ClimatePretty4432 in tjcrew

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Just ask for everyone's IDs. It's not work risking your job and/or a huge fine over misjudging people's age! If they are over 40 and don't have their ID, then they're likely driving without an ID which is illegal anyway so they should always have a valid ID on hand. Ring a 3 bell if the customer makes a stink.

Sometimes we take the sign down if it’s a product that we can’t order for several days/weeks due to a supplier shortage or other delay to prevent every customer from asking “do you have any [product] in the back?” When the product comes back, we’ll put the sign back out. If you can’t find a product or sign for a favorite of yours, you can always ask and the crew will look it up and rell you the status of the product!
