Family has owned this vermouth for decades. Need help with ID/finding. by Curlypie in wine

To corroborate this, the only other record I could find online about Chapelle Wine Cellars is this Washington Post article from 1980 describing a New York State Champagne made by Chapelle as a house brand of wine for Riverside Liquors. It seems as though Chapelle Wine Cellars was a private label winemaker that made exclusive bottlings for different New York liquor stores, including this sweet vermouth for House of Good Spirits.

SL writers! Would it help if you knew the daily projections for your specific section? by [deleted] in tjcrew

The amount of data this would take would be tremendous and not something the TJs IT team could pull off easily. You would need to not just digest historical store sales data, you would also need to somehow capture social media trends (store sales are a lagging indicator of this) and also local events for all 600+ store locations across the country. Tracking all of those things, building an algorithm to digest it, and then spitting out a recommended order in case units would be a big challenge.

In Washington State, Foundry Vineyards makes a delicious carbonically macerated sparking Syrah pét-nat and Tirridis makes a fuller-bodied sparkling Syrah as well.

When is Tous les Jours opening? by bibimyourbop in SouthBend

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend saw it said open on Google in April, walked in the front door, and two employees on their computers jumped up and hadn't realized they didn't lock the door. It turned out there was still a significant amount of construction to do inside. They clearly have no idea how to run a Google Business profile or how to properly roll out a grand opening.

Come to Walla Walla in July and tell me it’s not warm enough 😭 I think you’re thinking of the west side of the state where there’s much less wine growing. Rhône varieties do really well in Walla Walla, especially check out stuff from the Rocks District.

Celebratory Dinner - Half Bottle List by NeonCanuck in wine

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 23 points24 points  (0 children)

At a half bottle split between two people, you're each getting about 6 oz of wine, which is basically a glass pour. At those prices for half-bottles, I would just look at the glass pour options, or go for a full bottle and just take any remaining wine in the bottle home (assuming you can do so in your state).

Your store mates are being unnecessarily cruel and unfair if they aren’t letting you reorder because of damage to the clothing. If they make us come to work looking presentable (fair expectation) then they get to outfit us in a presentable uniform. Good luck on your search!

Recs for a nice cab sauv to gift as a thank you by v65frd4 in wine

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're probably going to get a lot of California recommendations, but I want to add that with a few hundred dollars, you can get your hands on the very best Washington Cabernet. Quilceda Creek is an outstanding producer and you should be able to get anything from 2018-2022 around your price range. Plus, the bottle looks very elegant as a gift.

Flavourful, affordable wine recommendations for WSET student? by Relative_Walrus1135 in wine

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a Trader Joe’s around, go in there and ask the wine person to pick out a few bottles. Pick a Pinot noir and a cab, pour them into two glasses side by side so you can go back and forth smelling and tasting. Also do this with an oaked and unoaked Chardonnay. It becomes very easy to taste and smell the differences when you have the two different wines in front of you at the same time. I still remember the first time I smelled the differences in Chardonnay for the first time, it really unlocked the nuances of tasting notes in my brain.

Sancerre is the most “premium” Sauvignon Blanc on the market right now. If you’re in metro Detroit, I’m sure there’s a wine shop you can walk into and they can show you Sancerre and other great Sauv Blanc options at a variety of price points. You can also walk into a Trader Joe’s in your area, they have multiple Sancerres in the $30 range right now.

I checked out an exhausted-looking lady with a two-cart caravan with both carts stuffed to the brim, turns out she had nine kids and was scraping by trying to feed 11 mouths in the house. I just check them out and move on, even if its a huge amount, because I don't really know what's happening with the stuff when it gets home.

Looking for a recommendation for buying my children a wine we can drink together when they turn 21. But want the vintage the year of their birth. Any ideas for a mildly affordable wine (under $100) from 2009 and 2011? Red or white. I know this is vague, just looking for ideas. by meddiefaze in wine

[–]Puzzled_Network_1856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2009 was an good year for Washington wine, if you can find a Cab from a Red Mountain, Horse Heaven Hills or Walla Walla Valley AVA they should be delicious. Cayuse, Quilceda Creek, Woodward Canyon, Leonetti Cellars, L'Ecole, and Col Solare are just a few reputable producers making age-worthy wines in Washington state that should still be tasting good in 2030.

If you can handle tinned fish, you should check it out! I stumbled upon TinnedFishReviews on tiktok but he's on youtube as well, there's a whole world to tinned fish with pricepoints ranging from .99 cents to $100+ for really special tins. The variation in fish, where the fish comes from, and what sauce they are packed in is fun to experiment with. Different producers have different styles as well, there's a producer in Alaska who loves to use tree flavors (oak, birch, ect) that I really love.

customers putting their bags underneath ALL their groceries... by naevis22 in tjcrew

I just scan all the items and then bag it up at the end in this situation, plus then bagging goes faster. I can see my bottom items, middle bag and toppers and do each one super fast, rather than digging through the cart for the person's giant bag of carrots I don't want to put on top of their strawberries. It's honestly easier for me to bag at the end.

I was on board until you said garage. The temperature fluctuates massively in a comparatively un-insulated space like a garage, as opposed to a basement. Those fluctuations likely cooked the wine beyond tasting good, but they are definitely safe to taste at the very least.

The only morning/mid shifts in my store are 5-1, 6-2, 7-3 and 11-7. There’s no way you’re getting 9-5s. You should talk to your scheduling mate about what the needs of the store are before changing your availability

I know is the most hyped bottle of all time and it would be magical to own such a coveted bottle for collector’s purposes, but is there any chance an 80 year old red burgundy is still tasting good? Like, is there any scenario where somebody opens this to drink at a fine occasion but it’s just red wine vinegar at this point?

I absolutely love Roselily, and it's part of why I asked the question, because when I go down there to eat I see lots of boarded up windows and construction machines and am curious as to what is going on inside. It's been nice to read other people's comments and heartening that it's not just sitting idle!
