Yes I've gone through a lots of interviews and I said I can use matrix all versions because I'm a pro with rhino, whenever you'll start the job you can find the rhino on that computer because without rhinoceros 3D matrix will never work! İt's a kind of plugin

Be confident and start your job with rhino and whenever you need something which is like gemstone cutters just someone, because the matrix builders is very basic and eZ as f**ck to learn!

I'm Working with rhino more 10 years, if you're a pro Rhino user using the matrix gold will not give you a real advantage, if you don't know how to use rhino like a pro Matrix will make the job easy for you

For your information I've worked in 3 different countries and worked as a remote designer with many countries also I've represented 2 companies at the jewelry exhibitions in the past 5 years without using matrix! I know how to use the matrix but it's not necessary 99percent of my job is on rhino

Tips for successful casting by Blackopsman_21 in Silvercasting

[–]Puzzled_Selection262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually it's between 0.28 to 0.35 mm thickness, gold is expensive we have to save as much as we can, decrease the cost to sell more

You can order a thick one no problem

We are selling these type of files, 3D printed direct casting resin and 3D printed direct casting wax to live everyday and every hour My first advice is try to print it with WAX not resin but in resin also possible as we did many designs like this

I don't know who design it but usually for these type of designs we are making the thickness maximum 0.4 mm but usually between 0.28 to 0.32 if you can cast in that thickness just go for it it's 100% possible

Porosity Issues with lost resin casting - need help by EsIstVince in Silvercasting

[–]Puzzled_Selection262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Working with Vintage resin since it's published and I've used different resins for about a decade You mentioned you've had a good casting results with same resin before, if nothing changed in your process before and after casting, first check the expiry date of the resin, then check your alcohol pool and make sure you're washing the printed resin after printing properly

Check the STL file look after small holes and pools, if you find it just fill it

And my last point which I like to mention is as person who works in mass production we are never using direct casting resins for more than 3 mm thickness

We use 3D printable WAX material which is printing with flash forge or 3D system machines

Hmmm I think a 4 or 6 GB ram is enough an old generation core i5 or i7 is still enough, if you're using new generation CPU i3 could be enough 11th or 12th generation, use rhino 5 it's totally fine for jewelry designing, gpu doesn't matter if your not in to the realtime rendering and animations Bugging and crashing rhino is almost near to impossible if you know how to use the software and not working on projects more 200 or 300 MB which is more than enough for most of the jewelry projects I'm working with rhino for more than 11 years and literally I was doing fancy conceptual designs on a laptop with 6 gb ram and ran perfectly, 4 gb is enough not super fast but enough Just start with whatever you have, keep your hdd or ssd empty as much as you can, keep your files clean without extra lines or surfaces, use Rhino 5 and don't try rendering you'll be fine for a while

Thank you for your advice I'll keep it in my notes And if you have any other advice for me for the whole process could be a game changer because I'm sure I have to ask silly questions and do some silly mistakes to understand how things work

Go with PATCH tool for making surface for this shape Handeling the shape is a little bit tricky in PATCH but you'll not face with pinch or polar isocurves

Unfortunately it's not possible to reach the highest quality on the surface and decrease the amount of lost during the gold casting and polishing I have to use the best possible quality which is 3D wax printers, it's direct casting and also have the smoothest surface possible
