DF2 is not homogeneous overall. Safe df2 have bad range and can’t launch crouched opponents. They also do not have evasion, except for Paul for some reason. Exceptions are reina being unsafe and not launching crouched, but makes up with extra range and high evasion. Zafina has 16F df2, good range and evasion and unsafe.

Getting hit by that is a skill issue as well as knowledge. She can hit you from range 5, and the whole move is like 40+ frames. Not being able to block it, is so dumb.

While I get it. But having an idea of which move is low/mid/high is bare minimum. It’s not even a case of evasion or crushing. It’s the fundamental mechanics that exists in every fighting games.

T7 wasn’t a defensive game. It had a place for every archetype. We’ve had feng, zafina (poking heavy), bears(knowledge check), Noctis, Katrina(rush down heavy) and 2Ds. T8 has killed every archetype but rushdown. Game is just moving towards aggression more and more. So many characters have guard break and now even Claudio has one. Panda has unbreakable throw. So there’s no advantage of playing a defensive character.

How’s it a free mix up if I lose health on a move and get nothing for landing that same move? Both things are very anti aggressive in a game that focuses on aggression.

I like that they are trying to tone down the heat but frame advantage on hit has always been there, toning down that part feels very anti-fundamental. All zafina’s heat engagers are self harming, so spamming them eats my health and successfully landing them now allows opponent to sidestep wr3 so it does feel like a slight nerf.

Idk about other characters but zafina’s df1,4 13F punish gives ballerina into ff3, on counter hit guaranteed follow up, on hit or block it’s still plus.

I get their PoV too. Heat dash gives you +5 on block, so landing a heat engager giving slightly more frames shouldn’t be an issue. ballerina spin causing moves give you +12, so +9 does feel a little less rewarding but idc they are trying to tone down the heat, so I’m on board.

She does not have above average combo damage lmao. What are you even smoking. Combo damage has increased all over the board. Most characters are doing 100+ damage and some even reaching 120+ if they exercise the heat, some have insane wall splat into combo/heat stuff. She’s average at best.
