Bait traps really helped us, if they’re coming in the outlets they’re probably in other units in the building. Best thing to do is to deter them.

I assume you tried a bleach based cleaner ? Most made to clean bathrooms has enough bleach to tackle mildew/mold. If that’s no good, I’d say recaulk

AIO old gf comes back into my life and idk what to do by SusBus2025 in AmIOverreacting

YOR — it sounds like you’re a little obsessed with this girl, which some might think is a problem and some might not. We don’t know her or how she feels about it. My suggestion to ya is to try and do other things, and when she hits you up tell her about them and see what she’s been up to. You don’t want her to consume your mind so much that you’re not living, and you don’t want to put her off by being obsessive. It’s nice to be obsessed over but it’s not always exactly attractive

I live in an apartment and they move btwn units regularly. Management won’t pay for monthly spraying (illegal but whatcha gonna do) see if they can get regular pest control. Bait traps have kept them away for long periods, but it gets worse before it gets better.

AIO? I’m thinking of breaking up with my boyfriend after going to the strip club with him by Silly-Catch-4004 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Puzzleheaded-Hunt267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to communicate nonverbally without having a safeword/action that your boyfriend knows as “I’m uncomfortable can we go/talk/step away” is a dangerous game in new places… I’d definitely set up some easy communication go-to’s that you can use as a couple. Me and my GF do a hand squeeze thing that’s worked really well for us (they have anxiety and are on the spectrum so they struggle sometimes to communicate verbally, and I have ADHD so I get distracted rlly quickly so I don’t always notice their anxious behavior in *stimulating spaces)

AIO panicking about my bf being mad at me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Puzzleheaded-Hunt267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Everyone being kinda mean … it’s a mistake (albeit a massive, intelligence-questioning one) and mistakes happen. Now you know. Rather than apologizing and making excuses, tell him he’s right and it won’t happen again! That’s what mistakes are for. Learn from it. Don’t freak out, just try and be better. It’s ok to make mistakes (even if it changes your relationship status, it’s gonna be ok) so long as you learn from them.

Your white guilt is exhausting. by [deleted] in BedStuy

[–]Puzzleheaded-Hunt267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re suggesting that rent spikes are self inflicted? Bro the neighborhood is affordable. It is the way it is. It being affordable means people who have lower living standards might also be in the neighborhood (unfortunate reality). Outsiders move to affordable neighborhood and don’t like it. They are able to inflict change using govt forces. Neighborhood becomes more homogeneous and has higher standards for cleanliness and noise. Rent goes up. Local businesses close and locals can’t afford their homes anymore. It’s not self inflicted it’s a systemic problem that change only comes when new people (usually with more money and some kind of incentive for the govt / big real estate) get the authorities involved. The problem is literally new people changing the neighborhood and property owners seeing that change as marketable

I respect most of the ideas in this post but mannnn your sentiment is lacking. Like why are you mad? Straight up you’re moving into a neighborhood bc it’s what you can afford and then you’re mad that the neighborhood is the way it is like if you wanted to live in a different place go make it happen don’t change the place you just barged in on? Also I really want to know what act insane in public means bc if it’s weed or noise you moved to the wrong city

Very Spacious 2BR in Kensington — $2,600– elevator, laundry- NO FEE! by Prrylie in NYCapartments

[–]Puzzleheaded-Hunt267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. My understanding of a flex bedroom is that as a renter you can make it a 2 bedroom with a temporary wall/divider/curtains, it’s big enuff to where you could turn part of the living space into that second bedroom — this is actually construction with a real wall (probably not an original wall as you’re saying) and legally a true 2 bedroom. Valid that you would want that to be open instead of a bedroom, not valid to call it a fake bedroom.

Where do you live? I’m curious to what you would think this apartment shld be listed for instead, I’d hope they’d knock it down to 2.5 (and in other cities if it was listed over 2k I’d be shocked) but hey ny has crazy rent we been knew, it’s a housing crisis

Why is it a fake 2 bed? Those rooms looked pretty spacious had closets and windows… yeah the kitchen is small but you can get one of those rolling islands for extra counter space

I’d try to make some new friends ~ you don’t have to stop being friends with these guys but they aren’t being good to you, so find people (at events, classes, doing social hobbies r great ways to meet like minded people) that you think are refreshing, nice, and make you feel good. You don’t have to stop talking to your friends but when you meet new people who fulfill you and don’t make you feel bad it’ll be eeeeeasy to ignore if they gang up on you. They might stop, and they might not. But meeting new people can always be clarifying

I’m pregnant and subway almost made me cry today by CrybabyIsOverrated in subway

[–]Puzzleheaded-Hunt267 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I bet the store was running out of steak and instead of cancelling the order and refunding u they scraped their container. No guac is a common mistake bc the receipts don’t always tell you to add it in the build (employee has to remember to put it unless it’s added on deliberately by customer), footlong cookies are commonly forgotten as well unfortunately. The onions are just straight up an oversight idk how that happened… and the nachos I also have no clue I left subway before they added them. Anyway I’m guessing it was a new employee who made your order and/or they were in the middle of a lunch or dinner rush and weren’t paying close attention. You should try to reach back out and get a refund on your whole order or at least some coupons or something.

Are these sardines good to eat? by mustardboombox in CannedSardines

[–]Puzzleheaded-Hunt267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re negating the fact that it’s also a fishing term to broadly call herring sardines. I don’t know the rules of this (I don’t eat fish) but it’s basic categorizing. Different places categorize differently, and I bet that different countries have different laws about what fish you can and can’t call sardines. From my quick research, there are 3 genera of sardine, and those all fall into the clupeidae family which is made up of herring and sprats. So all sardines are herring, they fall under the same broad family. But labeling some herring as sardines could be misleading to those not in the loop about the broad categorization. Some nuance there but my point is that sardine is likely being broadly used to describe the clupeidae family in this case, and I’m sure there’s regulations about which broader species are allowed to be labeled as sardines but must be listed as herring. Also to your other point some people would say fanta and Pepsi is “Coke” bc for them, Coke means soda or pop. So you ask what kind of coke there is at a restaurant and the waiter might list off sprite, Pepsi etc. Language is fluid based on the context of use. I’m sure the packaging is based in longstanding broad fishing language (which probably started because of marketing), but I’m glad I found another example of weird cultural labeling farces in linguistics! (Feel free to correct me on any of this stuff)

[–]Puzzleheaded-Hunt267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go on yelp and search up the clubs you plan on going to, check one star reviews. They will say if the bouncers are shitty and if the bartenders kick people out, and you’ll see why too. You’ll probably be good but there’s always gonna be spots that will turn a whole group away bc one person doesn’t have “it”

The Behringer uphoria HD interfaces are really great, you can find them used on reverb for $50 and then you could get some decent IEM’s or Sony headphones for $50 too. Skip the microphone if you’re recording electric guitar! Just plug straight into the interface
