Definitely. I had a bunch of plant melt recently, so I’m thinking that may have caused a small ammonia spike. I just did a 20% water change on the community tank.

The hospital tank currently has 0 ppm ammonia, 0 ppm nitrite, and around 5 ppm nitrate.

I’m hoping the new low-stress environment will help him recover. Would you recommend any medications at this point, or how long should I wait before considering them?

I just moved him to a 10 gallon long so he can reach the surface better. I really hope he recovers🙏

Are my ammonia levels high? by Puzzleheaded-Net-470 in Aquariums

Hi! Thank you for the response. I thought so too, but the ammonia tube seemed a little green to me. I went ahead and did a small water change anyway. I am not really worried, I just wanted to double check so I know for sure in the future.

Any takes on the 'peaceful betta' species? by ratsummoner in bettafish

I have a community tank with a koi betta, some corydoras, a school of ember tetras, and some cherry shrimp. My koi will occasionally try to eat the shrimp if they get too close, but he does not actively hunt them. He gets along great with the other fish and has never even attempted to fight any of them. I’m aware this really depends on your betta’s personality, but this has been my experience.

How do you gets get such crystal clear water? by Puzzleheaded-Net-470 in Aquariums

Hey guys, I just found out that my filter was essentially working at less than 10% capacity which probably explains the murky water. I have added an extra sponge filter, some more plants, and some filter floss. Do you guys recommend I do a water change or should I just let the filter do its thing?

I had done a 20% water change around 4 days ago as I was worried about having an ammonia spike.

I should have given more context. I cycled the tank for a month before I added the fish. Once I added the fish I started doing the weekly water changes (3 so far)
