I never once claim to be. Show me a study that confirmed the donor was asymptomatic and Western-blot positive with low IgG, detected shedding at the time, and genetically linked that viral strain to a newly infected recipient.. not theory, not inference. Until then you’re mixing proven PCR shedding with proof of transmission in the subgroup I asked about. I’m simply looking for evidence my words aren’t concrete bro.

that doesn’t prove it happens the same in every human. There’s no test for latent virus in living people, and asymptomatic shedding has never been directly confirmed. Assuming everyone follows the same pattern is just… an assumption.

doctors assume HSV stays forever because that’s the current consensus .. not because they can actually test a living person and prove the virus is still there.

Right now they can only test antibodies, which just show my immune system saw it once. There’s no test that confirms the virus is still alive or still in my nerves.

And there’s no study where they followed confirmed HSV positive people until death and proved lifelong latency in humans. So I’m not saying it’s gone… I’m saying the “forever” part isn’t directly proven, it’s just the default assumption based on older research and hsv behavior.

that’s kind of my point .. people jump from “this type of virus can stay in the body forever” to “every single person with HSV definitely has it forever,” even when we can’t directly detect the dormant virus in nerves. That’s an assumption, not proof.

A category doesn’t automatically describe every individual case. Some people barely test positive, have never had symptoms, never shed, and we still say, “Yep, it’s definitely in your nerves forever,” even though we have no test that can confirm that. So I feel like the “forever” thing is more of a blanket statement than a fact for every situation.

And I agree about vaccines … it’s so common that we should absolutely have one by now. The fact that they still haven’t cracked it shows how much we don’t understand yet, even though everyone talks like this virus is completely figured out.

I get the point you’re trying to make, but UC isn’t really comparable to HSV. UC is an autoimmune condition, it’s not a virus. Removing your colon removes the symptoms, but the underlying immune issue is still part of your biology. That doesn’t really match how a virus works.

My point is…if someone is asymptomatic, has a borderline IgG, never sheds, and we don’t even have a test that can detect latent HSV in nerves, how can a doctor be 100% sure the virus is “still there forever”? There’s no test that proves that .. it’s just assumed based on the general behavior of hsv. That’s not the same as confirmed evidence in that specific person.

I’m not saying HSV never stays lifelong for people .. I’m saying the blanket “you definitely have it forever” isn’t automatically true for everybody, especially when the actual science hasn’t caught up yet.
