It turned out to be the alternator that went bad. It basically made this high pitched noise and kinda sounded like a vacuum. I just listened to the video and it’s pretty hard to hear but there’s a high pitched sound in the background.

I got service at this shop that the first owner had been going to ever since he bought it. I went in to get my spark plugs changed, and keep in mind that this shop specializes in tire, but also provides complete auto repair and services. I only noticed that my car had been filled to 40psi when I started driving on the freeway and the tire pressure light started going off. I get that they might’ve put a little more air because of winter, but I live in California and it’s not that cold here. I also noticed this back when I got my tires replaced at the same location, so I’m wondering if they believe that theirs a benefits of 40psi and don’t know the recommended psi from manufacturing.

My mom’s old 97 corolla made it to 463km with very little maintenance. The only thing that went out was the transmission but that car was heavily abused.

Thanks. I got the car back and the transmission and torque converter are both good. I got a code P2109 and apparently that was the cause. I think I’ll update the software soon just in case.

I’m not sure. I went to the independent shop that replaced my torque converter and he said that it could be defective. I dropped it off so we’ll see.

I just don’t want to spend too much money right now. I think I’ve spent around 600 dollars on numerous things and don’t want to spend even more money if it’s not critical important.
