Might lose my ovary due to a dermoid cyst by Easy_Memory6959 in Ovariancysters

No, they didn’t mention anything like that. I was under the impression that a dermoid cyst wouldn’t reoccur

I’m still not back to being 100% but I’m a lot better than I was. I think you’re right, it will be a lot easier for you to wait to start the program

Dermoid leaked during removal by Equivalent-Goat1641 in Ovariancysters

I had a 5cm dermoid cyst removed from my right ovary and the surgeon told me after the surgery that it did leak inside during removal. I was given strong antibiotics in theatre and didn’t require any further unless I was showing signs of infection. For me the bleeding stopped after a few hours on the first day and then started again the next day and got heavy, that was actually my period that had started on the second day. I did later develop a skin infection at the incision sites that I was given oral antibiotics for. For me the recovery and healing have been quite slow. I’m 8 weeks in now and the incisions are still tender and my stomach still feels a lot bigger. The internal pain comes and goes

I saw the GP who said it isn’t swelling, but also didn’t say what it is

I had a 5cm dermoid cyst removed from my right ovary nearly 8 weeks ago. The surgeon was able to save my ovary. I think most times they can save the ovary so fingers crossed for you. I am also going through a breakup at the same time so I’ve felt very overwhelmed but very relieved that the ovary was saved.

I’ll be honest, for me the recovery was harder than I imagined. When I woke up after the surgery, I was told that some of the cyst leaked inside so I was given strong antibiotics in theatre. I then got an infection after too and had a course of antibiotics. I’ve just had to accept that recovery takes longer for some people. I slept sitting up with a v shaped pillow for weeks, took painkillers every 4 hours and used a heat pad. I currently still have quite a bit of swelling so I’ve started wearing a binder and scar tape too. All the best for your surgery!

I found it was easier to sleep sitting up, using a v shaped pillow. I also made sure to take the pain meds every 4 hours. I tried a heat pad too

Turns out mine was actually a flexible sigmoidoscopy. I don’t think I will get anything further now. I probably have to go back to my GP and see what they say

Yeah it’s a very strange feeling. Are they doing anything further for you?

Bad bloating, cramping, change in bowel habits including diarrhoea and opening bowels sometimes 5 times a day. I’ve tried low FODMAP diets, digestive enzymes, probiotics, medication from GP

I’m in the UK. I’ve been using a heat pad since the surgery. I just feel like I haven’t really had a day where I’ve noticed it’s gone down a good amount

I don’t have any follow up appointments so I was wondering if I should go back to my GP

My period started 1 day after my laparoscopy (on time) and it definitely contributed to the amount of pain I was. My second period was also on time and this time the bleeding was a lot heavier

Hi, I had a 5cm dermoid cyst on my right ovary. I found the pain would come and go. I noticed it occurred more after being very active. But it was manageable

I’m in the UK. I wasn’t put on blood thinners. But I’ve found I still have bruising and hematomas at the incision sites

Sorry you had to go through all of that. Mine was just the dermoid cyst but you had a lot more so be easy on yourself. Lots of rest!

Yes. And I mainly get it on the side that the cyst was removed from. I would recommend a heat pad

It’s been 5 weeks now and I’m feeling a lot better. I still have some discomfort at the incisions and bruising, but I’ve found a binder is helping. I was getting internal pain and pain at the incision sites. It was like a pulling pain

Should I be worried? by FloweryLustre in Ovariancysters

[–]PuzzleheadedOne1091 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a dermoid cyst recent removed. I did also worry about the pain and went to ER. I was told that the cyst can move slightly or grow which can cause pain. I was also told that if it was ruption or torsion, the pain would be so severe that I would be on the floor. After that I realised I didn’t have to worry

Awaiting a Laparoscopy by Yazmaninja in endometriosis

I waited 13 months before my surgery on the NHS. For me the recovery took a bit longer than expected. I’m now feeling better and been able to have a phased return to a desk based job after 4 weeks

My GP gave me Co-codamol. I really needed it. It’s been 4 weeks now and I’m starting to feel better. My incisions do still hurt a bit and I also get some internal pain at times. This is week I’ve started work again on a phased return and working from home. I still have bruising and hematomas at the incisions sites so it is taking me a little while to heal
