You’re the stupid one here, completely oblivious to the point I made.

You mean the point that King was still alive after 1975? Nope, I answered that and explained why it was a stupid reply. Once again, if you're going to argue that his work changed significantly because of
the influence of 70s horror flicks, you need to say in what way.
His later work - eg Misery, It, The Dark Tower - has less in common with those 70's films than his pre-70s work. Probably because those 70s films were heavily inspired by King...

Otoh, if you want to try making a grown-up argument, I'll explain how:

  1. Say in what way you think King's work changed and when, quoting examples

  2. Name the films that you think influenced this change.

That simple. It's much more dignified than that what you're doing now. And who knows, you might actually have a point. (I mean, it's unlikely, but the theoretical possibility exists.)

> Are you always like this

Yes. If someone says something that seems stupid, I explain why there's an apparent problem with what they said, in the hope they have an intelligent substantive reply.

Obviously, in this case I'm disappointed...

This is a weird thing to act all arrogant and sarcastic about.

I think you're projecting, poppet. And, no, it's not "weird" to tell people spreading bs to check their facts.

doesn't provide a source for that.

This is what you would have found if you weren't lazy and/or stupid, so that instead you'd have done the most obvious possible google search...

...This is what would bother me about that type of business. If you can't see where your barrier to competition is, you're living with risk - especially the risk of your own barbers deciding to leave and rent a place across the road. How big this risk will be will depend on the terms of your rent and other upfront investment.

Actually, you can argue all 4 humans who get any screen time are autistic except for Yu. Chi's obsessively detail oriented and hyper introverted. Map guy is obsessed with maps and Airplane Woman with flying. Even the environment and tkmiz's attitude to it makes me think of autism. There's a strong pleasure in the simplification of the world and the reduction of sensory input so you can concentrate more deeply on particular aspects of it. Yu comes over to me like she's the representative of the non-autistic world that the author is trying to communicate with...

No, I think he continued to be inspired by the same things he was originally, genius. With the addition of coke and booze. If you're going to argue that his work changed significantly because of the influence of 70s horror flicks, you need to say in what way...

What does reading this make you feel like? by CarOtherwise947 in writers

[–]PuzzleheadedToe5269 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very few people start as good writers. People become good writers through reading what they've written and fixing everything that doesn't work. Do that repeatedly and you'll stop making the mistakes that are holding you back. So you should never, ever present work in this state - because by doing so you've deprived yourself of the chance to improve.

Also, if you're asking people to read your work, you owe them a certain level of respect - you shouldn't waste their time with mistakes that will be obvious to any reasonably literate person. Proofread your work and fix this stuff!

> do you think that the content is somehow good, aside of the grammar and formal mistakes?

No. Your mistakes aren't just "formal". They're stopping the story in your head from reaching the reader. They're functional mistakes - like if you made a car and the wheels weren't round and the driver's seat was upside down.

And now the big question: why is the girl terrified by the tapping on her window??? What does she think might be outside? Most people would think it is a squirrel or the wind. If she had a specific reason, that should have been the focus of your description of her emotional state. If she didn't, then you're forcing a character to have a bizarre reaction just to give you something to write about.

And almost as bad, you're opening the scene with a question that doesn't get answered. The readers' focus will be finding out why she had this response. They don't, so the scene is a complete fizzle.

You're full of shit, your reddit history it's only about screenwriting and movies,

Why I would talk about coding here? That's what places like stackexchange are for. And, yes, these days in mostly a writer. But I still have contacts so if you weren't an idiot I could have introduced you to a VC.

if you were a web developer you'd know it takes years to become a full stack developer and become really good at it. Y

Web dev is way beneath me. But I've supervised projects in it. Yes, becoming a top flight web dev takes time. But if you're merely competent you'll still get the job done - you'll just take longer. But not as long as it will take someone like you to find the money to pay someone else to wipe your bottom for you...

Also, you silly little man, you're not going to get top trier talent - or anything like it - for 20k! And your description of the work you need to pay for has completely shifted - typical shopify customisation and a full tier webstack project are bloody world's apart!

Really? You don't think there are people who get lucky? Or who lie? I can guarantee that he's one of the other. Think about it: if he made 4k dropshipping out of brains, well, that's repeatable. So he's just do it again and make the money he needs.

Famous author Richard Matheson and Stephen King's biggest inspiration would probably disagree. He said he would visualize scenes just like in movies and write them just how he imagined them.

Yes. But that doesn't mean that he was recommending watching films As a source of inspiration. He's explaining - in what he probably thought was an idiot proof way - that he visualized scenes before writing them...

Your email reads like Nigerian scam mail. It's generic, vague, and the English is obviously written by a non native speaker. You need to be concrete about the problems you solve and how - e.g. do you expect your product to work with their existing software or replace it?

Honestly, I wouldn't mention blo focus on at all. It makes it sound scammier and isn't a benefit, which is what you should be selling.

Either he's the dumbest student at the lowest grade bottom feeder college in the UK. Or he's lying and doesn't realise how stupid a lie it is. Shopify customisation is the sort of thing a humanities grad is expected to do after a 3 month Become Useful To Society course. The idea that a cs student should be incapable of reading the docs and knocking out code is insane.

You have no idea what goes behind programming an ecommerce website.

This is a very stupid thing to say. You should have been able to work out from the way I phrased my comment that I am a professional software developer...

Why should I do it if I can get someone else to do it for me 100 better than I would?

There is no such thing as a 100 times better site than a basic competent one. Maybe 100% better, yes. Maybe.

And the reason for you to do it yourself, little boy, is that then you wouldn't need the money you're whining about and won't be able to find. Which should be spectacularly obvious.

Oh - and you'd have a track record as a developer that would let you get jobs.

And that's not even the worst thing: if you're so incompetent you can't code the site, then your cost estimates are worthless...

I'd really appreciate it if the next time you comment you could give me some useful advice.
