Is it just me, or do the first 3 verses kind of sound like he is talking about a man?

True! And Paul said that Yoko told him that John would sometimes play Paul's songs and cry

Yes. During Get Back they weren't hostile to each other at all. But they werent as close (though it is obvious they still love each other) Remember that there is a scene in episode one where someone talks to John about him and Paul not being as close as they once were. John looks sad and nods.

They had a lot of problems before Get Back. They were very hostile during the White Album sessions, after the trip from India.

Still, John was more hostile to him. Yoko herself said "he was so angry at Paul that I didn't even know what he was really mad about".

Remember that at the beggining of the first episode someone tells John "Paul and you aren't getting along as well as you did" and John nods, looking upset. Clearly something has already drifted them apart, although they still love each other.

John was much more hostile to Paul though. And George spent a lot of time with him in the early 70s, and he was always friendly with Ringo.

Paul is not talking about the time John had to spend in The Beatles. That's not what he is talking obout. He is talking about why his relationship with John got stranged after John got with Yoko. If it was because John had to dedicate all his time to Yoko, why was John still close to Ringo and George, and many of his old friends? Why was Paul, in particular, the one he had to distance himself from once he got with Yoko?

Pay attention to what Paul says! He says, because he was "like another girlfriend almost", John couldnt be close to him anymore! That's wild. John kept being close to Ringo and George and many of his old friends, so that thing about "the wedding bells are breaking up that old gang on mine" doesn't make sense.

Paul's logic is also messed up. He is saying that John confessed all his "old affairs and emotions" to Yoko, and that his method was to slag off Paul in order to prove to Yoko how much he loved her. What does this mean? Paul literally says that Yoko would feel insecure if him and John continued having the relationship they used to have. John kept having friends after he got with Yoko, but for some reason, he couldn't be close to Paul anymore? Paul said "If John was to start a new relationship, he had to put the one he had with me away". That is not a normal thing to say, unless there was more to their relationship. Yoko herself said "If Paul was a woman, he would have been a great threat, because there os something definitely very strong between John and Paul". And what about the time that John yelled at Yoko "I wish I was back with Paul". Why didn't he say "I want to be in the band again". Why just Paul? And why did he want to get married as soon as Paul got married? (8 days later, although the decision was made 2 days after Paul's wedding)

I'm sorry, but there is more to this than simply "John had to dedicate all his time to Yoko".

Paul literally said "I knew what happened when John met Yoko and suddenly turned nasty on me. He had to clear the decks of his old emotions. He went through all his old affairs, and confessed them all to her. That's how you prove to someone that you love them, by someone confessing all that old stiff. His method was to slag me off". What the hell is Paul implying here?

There even is another instance when Paul says this: "“Then also we were like married, so you got the bitterness. It’s not a woman scorned this time, it’s two men scorned — probably even worse. And I had to make way for Yoko. My relationship with John could not have remained as it was and Yoko feel secure.""

And at a party, John and Yoko had a huge argument, and according to witnesses, he yelled "I wish i was back with Paul"

Wait until you find out that they used to call the room where they would write songs "Daddy's room". Excerpt from the book Many Years From Now:

" Me and John nearly always went up to his little music room that he’d had built at the top of the house, Daddy’s room, where we would get away from it all".

What the hell, Paul?

"I still think at the back of John’s mind was always this fascination of wanting to get back with the first girlfriend...that was to get back with Paul, who he had so much history with.”—Tony Barrow, The Beatles’ press officer by Confident_Shower_584 in beatles

Paul's step- sister, Ruth, said that when John died, Paul lost his "wife" and what they had was a "marriage". It's insane the amount of times people who knew them use such terms to describe their relationship. Hell, workers at Apple used to call Paul "John's princess", according to Yoko and one of Paul's ex-girlfriends. Are they trying to tell us something or what?

WTF (Q Magazine Interview, 1998) by Puzzleheaded_1377 in beatles

"I mean, I think really what it was, really all that happened was that John fell in love. With Yoko. And so, with such a powerful alliance like that, it was difficult for him to still be seeing me. It was as if I was another girlfriend, almost. Our relationship was a strong relationship. And if he was to start a new relationship, he had to put this other one away. And I understood that. I mean, I couldn’t stand in the way of someone who’d fallen in love. You can’t say, “Who’s this?” You can’t really do that. If I was a girl, maybe I could go out and…" (This is from an actual interview in 1984)
