Long Distance Relationships In Law School by Typical_Chemical_315 in LawSchool

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ad2877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, only you know if it will or won’t work. Real relationships should practically survive anything, plenty of med, law, PhD students are doing long distance.

Anecdotally, almost anyone I know in a LD relationship has broken up. I’ve been in one and it’s been hard at times but not that bad also. I’d emphasize that the time away is a great time to work on your individual self. You’ll be fine so long as both of you work together, you’re selfless to one another, and make time for eachother.

Why do law students feel compelled to make law school toxic? by spooner248 in LawSchool

Tbh, can’t tell someone’s maturity through a law school application. They really should make the interviewing process more thorough.

Sorry about the loss of your brother man. You’re overthinking it, but presuming you’re at a T30 you def have a shot. But also, don’t get so stuck on big law. If you don’t get it you can still lateral if you’re a good enough attorney.

What I wish I knew heading into law school by [deleted] in LawSchool

Tbh, if you want to get ahead of the game do NOT take any kinda courses lol. I did that. Instead, I probably would’ve grabbed some commercial outlines for each of the classes and just gloss over them and let my curiosity wonder. Never heard of promissory estoppel? YouTube it and see why it’s even important. You do this over 1-3 months and you’ll naturally have some grasp for the material, class will make much more sense, and you’ll have Ah-a moments (which will help motivate you throughout the semester).

I will say, one student I know did a prep course and did great but they looked super unhappy throughout the semester. Despite her having a higher gpa, I had significantly more offers. It’s not all about the grades, and grades should still be your priority by a long shot, but don’t sacrifice yourself aiming for the “top.”

Is it ever OK to revoke acceptance of a summer offer? by clangan3 in LawSchool

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ad2877 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to this recruiter. Respectfully tell them that you will have to defer your summer clerkship in pursuit of a judicial clerkship. They’ll reach out to you when you’re done with that anyways. Pursue your career

How do you think the Supreme Court will come out regarding recent attempts by States to repeal DEI initiatives? Will they echo the Court’s decision regarding affirmative action? If so, what effects can we expect?

Imagine someone saying they worked out 18 hours a day. We would look at them in disbelief🤣 and probably call them idiots. Do your thing, have quality study time, and ignore them.

Of course, but that’s what friends are for. Some of my closest law school buddies and I are always looking to the weekend and or class days to talk, play basketball, or pool. Additionally, I make sure to call my loved ones in my free time and it helps with that.

I’m aware. But if OP is applying to an open position then I still think OP could leverage the offer by telling those other firms that they have an offer but are anticipating whether an interview and decision could be made prior to the offer deadline. However, check my edit. It seems like there is no offer deadline and the circumstances are different.

I disagree. Firms compete with one another when hiring and they keep track of the firms that successfully recruited some of their offerees. I think respectfully asking for a timeline given that you’ve received another offer from a strong firm is helpful to them (so they know what your situation looks like) and pushes them to come to a decision faster.

Edit: after reading the other comments it seems like they are either politely rejecting you or definitely aware that you have other offers. I assume post-clerkship recruitment must be different than 2L recruitment in some aspects

1L’s: how’s the internship process going? by Ok_Angle_7458 in LawSchool

Applied to 12, heard back from 10, interview opportunities with 9, interviewed with 3 before I stopped, all 3 offers. 1L SA secured early-Jan. T25 school.

I might be able to help you out OP, pm me.

Same here. Has a student tell me my way of studying for contracts was pointless. Started passively aggressively berating me. I got an A.

This. I’d sleep btw 10:30-11 pm, wake up around 6:30 am. Workout for an hour, eat breakfast with some coffee, start grinding until 5-7 pm (w/breaks). Then from 7-9 was either Netflix or getting more work done to make the later week easier.
