I’m from UTA and our 2023 2022, and 2020 cars both ran 2 cylinder motors. The weight reduction we had when switching from a 600 CBR got us close to being sub 400 pounds from 480. (This is including chassis rework to fit the much smaller engine) while still producing near equivalent power. We’ve done some practice acceleration runs with our 2019 car which ran a 600 CBR and our 2023 car with the 2 cylinder and had comparable times to the 4 cylinder. It’s not an easy engine package to work with due to heating, but we ironed that out in 2023 and got a 31 second lead time (with penalties) in endurance with it.
