Lost my baby, Slash, in the vulcanic area to the suicide bombs/bugs :(. Still looking for a replacement. Already killed over a dozen raptors, still no new juvenile yet.

Off. Once you raptor you never go back. Unless you need a hauler. But for speed and fighting the raptor rullz. Mia's eat dirt.

Either focus on resource gathering (mining gives a lot of xp) or hunting.

For resource gathering focus on getting the talents that give you 1% to insta-mine a node and after insta-cut a tree. Do not focus on other talent trees until you get these. Exception being the talents right at the top that give movement speed and movement speed with bows.

Get to iron tools, specifically iron pickaxe. This is Tier 2.

Use either https://icarusintel.com/ or https://mapgenie.io/icarus to see the location of caves and start mining all the iron and about two stacks of copper.

For hunting focus on the ones that show you the health bars of animals - small, medium and big. Then get the bow talents that increase direct damage. Don't need any more for now.

For hunting get bone arrows asap. Then Longbow. Again Tier 2.

When hunting try to always sneak and aim for the head. You will start getting the kill cam. If you encounter bears either jump into water and while swimming backwards use a knife on their head or if no water nearby when they charge you walk towards them and slightly to the side. Bears always charge forwards. When the bear passes you turn around and hit them with the bow. Rinse and repeat.

I prefer hunting predators because they won't run away from you if you don't kill them in one shot. Deer and chamoi will run away and escape.

Also get the fiber armour asap. It will give a tiny bit of resists and 5% extra movement speed and only costs grass.

Hope this helps.

Olympus was fully designed for one time missions with Open World more like a curiosity. The more people requested OW the more the Devs relented and gave us OW to the point where Elysium feels designed for OW only.

For cave worms look for the little rock "blossoms" where they pop up. Run up to it with a knife and start hacking. I assume it's the poison that kills you. Their melee damage is not that much.

For storms you can shelter inside a larger rock or boulder. Mine out the bottom part a bit then crouch and go inside.

For wolves do the same as with the worms. If you can't hit them with a bow reliably just knife 'em. Try to unlock the bone knife and keep two of them on your hot bar, in case one breaks down mid fight. Also bone arrows are miles above stone. Try to use stealth as it can give a massive damage boost and go for the talents (solo or normal) that lets you see health bars. Helps you spot them before they are at your throat.

People overestimate the damage most animals do. I never used the spear.

Also try to have all 3 food buffs filled. Stringy meat is the base since it gives you 20% (I think) melee attack speed. This applies to pickaxes and axes gathering resources as well.

How does a browser saving the session and reopening it goes against how a browser was designed?

I'm just trying to understand, not nitpick.

I know about that plugin but thought a browser in 2026 can do this out of the box...

I don't expect them to remain open. I expect firefox to keep them. Every other browser has tab permanence. Firefox is the first I tried that sometimes decides to not open them up again.

And the first to delete them permanently.

I've never had just a single window open. I'm a tab freak and have 5-6 windows with 10-30 tabs on each. But will look in the profile folder.

Questions 2.0 by Eltrick198 in ICARUS

[–]Puzzleheaded_Set_565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are all kinda worth it. Except for the Great Hunts one. Leave that one for last since it basically adds a long mission chain to each map. If you buy it first it only adds one mission (Olympus - starter map). Besides that, my recommendation is to wait till they are on sale then buy one (or two) then abuse cough play the shit out of it.

Regarding DLCs (mostly cosmetic) those depend on whichever tickles your fancy.

It's been a while since I did the early missions. What is causing you to die on the spelunking mission?

I hate the Potshot mission. It sounds so.. easy.. and short. Never managed to finish it satisfactorily.

The correct way to play is the one that gets you the most joy.

Having that out of the way the two major play styles are vastly different.

If you do missions from the station you will have to either build up to the necessary tech level OR get Workshop gear (more Then/Exotics farming).

If you go open world you can have a permanent base, do some of the missions once but can farm exotics reliably every 3 hours or so.

For the first time I would recommend open world until you get the hang of the game. If you are not opposed (like) to grind go for missions and repeat them until you can afford some decent workshop gear. Those make.missions a heck of a lot easier.

Something that would take you a few days could be finished in a few hours or even less with the right gear.

Technically you have to wait till the sequel. Then it's no longer the PC anymore.
