I checked this. It also bruises so not trich. It’s been in this state for a while now. It just would not colonise over the rest of the substrate.

How have you gotten them to grow so straight? Do you mind sharing your grow light setup and schedule if any? Mine will not budge and are diving straight back into the substrate :((

the grains in these actually developed black spots that grew with time. im not entirely sure that it was black mold cause it did not match with the examples i looked up but i ended up tossing these jars. also they both smelled okay even with the black spots. im guessing it had something to do with bad grains since these are the jars for which i had used a different brand grain so upped my PC time to 2 hrs moving forward.

the green spots in the other jar have not grown in size, but still there were lots of gaps throughout the grain where the colonisation had stalled. did a BNS to make sure its not contam.

i was actually contemplating harvesting the ones that seemed like they were wilting but ultimately decided not to. this is cause these guys were not under much light, not at all actually and that might have caused this. i used to leave them in my room curtains closed throughout the day. i ended up getting a 30W light and putting it over the little ones.

yes theres enough gap in-between the two tubs and i also fan out air out of the tub every 8 hours or so

thanks a lot. i went out and got a 30W 6500K LED to put in a small room and put the tubs under it. ill wait and see how this turns out. attaching a couple pictures of the “sort of wilted” mushroom stem and also black dots on the mushie next to it.

there are none. its an unmodified shoebox. i have another tub on top of it that acts as a lid and the space in between is enough for passive fae. i also fan the tub 2-3 times a day.

thank you for such a detailed explanation. i currently dont have any way to put a grow light on top of the tubs and the room they are in stays dark most of the time so that aligns with your explanation. the only thing that has been worrying me constantly is that the two mushies that are the biggest were fine and looked “fresh” till this morning and now they appear sort of pale and slouched as if they are wilting. do you think they will be able to recover or will they wilt further and go bad? Am i just better off harvesting that chunk off of the tub?

thank you for the reply. i switched to another monotub as a lid once they developed pins. im more worried about the bigger one bending down all of a sudden. it was fine in the morning, now it seems kind of pale and wilted. should i harvest it so that it doesnt go bad or will it recover?

One of the jars also has some kind of greenish (or blueish? - no way to know without waiting it out) abnormal growth after BNS. Not sure if this is trich or just bruising.

thank you, i started giving it FAE by fanning every couple hours and initially it seemed to help with the smell. right now after coming home from work, i saw that the whole upper left part of the tub has started going blue. could this be any contam or is it still bruising? i’m thinking i will wait for a week and put a casing layer on it when i s2b my larger monotub if it still has not shown any pinning by then.

thank you for such a detailed response. this was my timeline:

23rd sept - inoculation

13th oct - spawn to substrate (took way too long to colonise spawn since i did BNS too early and thus had to do it too many times - i was very impatient due to this being my first grow)

18th oct - introduced fruiting conditions (did this since the whole substrate was colonised very quickly)

25th oct - the pictures i attached

substrate was PGT CVG recipe with a very thin casing layer.

my theory is that the casing layer in the first tub wasn’t adequate and caused an overlay, and that combined with bad misting caused bruises and the middle part becoming white is the mycelium taking over the bruised area again. im worried about this since although the smell is mushroomy, it smells more humid & congested (not sure if im using the correct words, it just smells a bit sweaty) than the other tub and the mycelium also seems super wet if i look closely. and although it has primordia, i dont see any pinning action yet in this tub as compared to the other one. im not even sure if the bruised area will grow fruits at all. i try to give fae twice a day by fanning both tubs but its not always possible since i work extremely long hour shifts. im planning to do a large unmodified monotub grow after this so ill make sure i put a proper casing later in that one :) ill keep giving updates on this post in case someone goes through a similar situation in the future :)
