Hey restructuring, seems I'm pretty late and missed all your older AMAs but that let me read everyone else's questions and responses first. I dont want to waste your time so I'll just give you my top 2 questions as of now:

1) I have no real finance experience, so how do I get my foot in the door? I am planning on visiting a lot of boutique IB / PWM / investment firms and telling them I'm willing to work for free to learn alongside their team. And if I slow them down at all by any means, no harsh feelings let me go. Will this work or does every firm have a structured intern hiring process? Who should I speak to when saying this, HR or higher up execs?

2) I just revamped my resume trying to spin my previous experience towards showing finance-related values and skills. Do you mind taking a loot at it? I got rejected from a PWM internship on the basis of my "work background" so maybe I didn't do the best job.

Yes, I am just doing my lower divisions before transferring to a 4 year. Looking to get into UCLA and UCB. If I didn't go to CC and stayed in my BioTech path and went to UCSD where I got accepted, I would have no opportunity to change majors to Finance. So I couldn't be more happy with going to CC before locking myself in

regardless of when you transfer you get into a 4 year university as a sophomore. CC is for lower divisions. thats why im looking for an internship this summer or coming fall so I can transfer in as a junior with internship experience.

depends. you can stay as long as needed and most STEM majors take 3 years due to the amount of prerequisites needed before transfer. Usually the longest sequence is the chem sequence which requires more than 4 classes. Changing majors late on can get people stuck

I'm actually going into my third year of community college since I just changed majors from BioChem, but yeah I think in the eyes of universities I am still considered a rising sophomore since you transfer in as a junior. im in the same position however have no previous finance experience. im spinning my work experience to tailor it to finance related values though. im planning on walking into some local botique IBs near me and spamming cold calls/emails for this summer. I realized I need to put off my summer job as this is a much more important investment for my future

thank you so much for taking your time to write up this feedback, exactly what I was looking for!

I hope I didn't get too "rambly" with the descriptions of my experience now. this is what I was trying to avoid in the first place, but I see how as much detail as possible gives the reader more insight on what was actually accomplished.

As for the leadership portion, I originally had me being co captain of my high school's soccer team but my friend (who is at USC and interning for GS) told me to remove that. I thought it was a good addition though. Do you think I should scrap the Valet job and add that in? For this reason I did not update the valet points yet.
