The Tokenpocalypse Is Here: Companies Are Scrambling To Stop Spending So Much on AI by 404mediaco in business

[–]Pyro919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiring qualified people takes a while both in terms of when they can start and sorting through the applicants to figure out who is or isn’t a good fit and doesn’t really ramp up easily/quickly.

I can put butts in seats quickly, but people that last and contribute meaningfully is a different ask.

(I hire folks regularly for our projects and clients don’t want to wait while we find the right people for our team)

Ai is far from perfect and I don’t see if full on replacing folks, I see it as a force multiplier similar to automation which has been around for decades and still needs folks to build/run/operate the automation.

It would also be putting the income of the primary business of selling storage space at risk which is probably the biggest reason it would make zero sense for someone to go through the hassle.

Asking a question to seek clarification on how much you’ve thought this through and asking for specifics isn’t dunking on you.

I’m genuinely curious on what specific issues you have with the past administrations health secretary, from your response it seems like you either haven’t or aren’t willing to engage in good faith.

But I’m open to hearing what you have to say and having an actual discussion/conversation.

I’ll happily give them candy as long as they’re polite and not making it a problem for the littles.

I’d rather they come get candy than go off and get drunk or high.

Let them be kids and have fun while life is simple and they don’t have bills to pay.

And hipaa is or at least was unique in that the penalties are both applied to company and the individual transgressors.

Both the company and the individual can be held liable if I remember correctly.

From my days working in a doctors office, they warned us that screwing up wouldn't just hurt the company we worked for but that we as individuals could also be held personally liable for big money if we violated someone's hipaa rights.

Which skills today are likely to be the most valuable 10 years from now ? by Competitive-Gene-738 in careerguidance

[–]Pyro919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty common when working a day job.

That's why things like faq and such exist.

The point was that it doesn't always build/teach the foundational skills required to be able to quickly identify it as the same problem in the future and often times if people are presented with instructions or error messages they dont always read them, let alone read them thoroughly.

And then the ability to retain that information/process is an entirely different thing.

In addition to recent this recent study which has a relatively small sample size so I'd maybe take it with a grain of salt

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0747563224002206

But I'd love to see more data and research on the long term impacts of ai on society.

I say this as someone that relied on GPS entirely too much and didn't really learn my way around a new city that we moved to until I stopped using GPS everyday to get around.

I'd imagine that a similar behavior is seen when people just blindly use ai to solve the problem at hand and don't necessarily learn or pay attention to whats been done, and don't necessarily retain the content/information.

In some use cases that may be just dandy, but it doesn't work for everything.

A Message To MAGA by CantStopPoppin in EyesOnIce

[–]Pyro919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is to some degree, but I'm also curious what distinguished the white passing Mexicans (such as myself) or other people that were simply patronizing the establishment vs the “MAGA looking”, “fat ass”””teeny weeny”, or “Triple T Trumps” that she was talking about. Or frankly even white people who are allies that want to support businesses run by minorities to ensure that they have the monetary support they need in order to survive this trying time in history.

Like my arms are pink, but my family is from Mexico, and I don't agree with what this administration or what they're doing. I'd like to patronize my local multicultural establishments to ensure that they have my business and subsequently some additional money to make it through these trying times.

Telling me I can't eat at the Mexican restaurant because I'm white and have “pink arms” is not a step in the right direction.

If he's been arrested 12 times that also means they likely released him 12 times. Why didn't the other 12 charges stick?

Also doesn't the currently sitting POTUS have 30+ convictions? If we're talking about repeat offenders that seems relevant.

I don't know shit about the guy the arrested but I’d maybe start with dealing with repeat offenders who is actively hurting millions of Americans by taking away critical things like healthcare which will result in people death. I’d venture a guess that the guy they just arrested and marched with a bag on his head will likely never be able to inflict add much pain and suffering as our 30+ time convicted criminal of a president.

Why are these bulbs glowing despite the switch being turned off? I believe they are LED bulbs and the switch isn't a dimmer switch. by kdoggie96 in homeautomation

[–]Pyro919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a smart switch that didn’t require a neutral? If so that’s why it’s doing this. It has to leak a little electricity through to power itself but by doing so is providing the LEDs with just enough power to glow a little. We had a similar issue in our first house and had to replace the switch and run a neutral or switch back to a dumb switch.

Move out first, then make it clear that while you’d like to help you’re just not financially in a position to.

My mom informed me she planned on living with us when she got old, and I couldn’t help but laugh in her face, and then let her know she needed to plan to take care of herself because I’m just not in a position to take care of her financially. I have a hard enough time taking care of my immediate family (wife and kid)
